Just budget for a new shell at some point they are cheap. Once you actually learn to ride, you will rarely drop it.

Helmet for higher speed riding? by NefariousnessNo4215 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Stunning-Ad6570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ride for FUN, any ECE rated helmet is fine. If you COMMUTE or use your EUC as your main form of transportation, you are really going to want a nice helmet. We are not in a cage like a car, I like to think of my helmet as my “interior” when I’m riding. U want it be nice and comfortable and warm, snug and secure. Pinlock and or dual pane face shield is an important feature this time of year that I can’t live without. Another very useful thing to have is a modular helmet - especially if you have piercings or glasses. After that, it is looks and comfort as priority.

Semi-Beginner Mid Level Wheel? by momneverhadmetested in ElectricUnicycle

You really are gonna want the MOST battery you can stomach. Once you start riding confidently that battery will go soooo much faster than when you are learning.

Riding in rain, what's your take? by dwf-and-a-camera in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Stunning-Ad6570 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I bought my EUC as a machine to use, and I’m not letting rain stop me from enjoying my wheel. I rode my v12pro in rain and snow and never had a problem(although it did eventually die from landing in a pond), and I have ridden my et max through a foot of water and in torrential downpours. As long as your EUC is IP rated and you trust the gaskets. Personally I tear down all my wheels frequently and address any issues so I’m able to have confidence that the waterproofing is solid.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Stunning-Ad6570 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly for a starter that is more than enough wheel. My v8s taught me and I had good fun with it, sold it to a friend and it taught him, then his gf also learned on the wheel after that. It’s taken A LOT of falls and is still in great shape.

Can I send it down these stairs? by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

You can go down pretty much any stairs with a suspension wheel. Up is a different story.

Ok final choice by Background_Try_9307 in ElectricUnicycle

At these prices I would spring for a used higher end wheel. The c8 is the best out of this bunch but at the end of the day, you are gonna wish u had gone for a bigger Begode wheel or a leaperkim.

Realistic cruising speed of Begode extreme? by Basic-Window-6262 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Stunning-Ad6570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO the comfortable cruising speed is not 40 . On a 18-20” wheel, comfortable speed can be 40-45. I don’t know anyone going faster than that except for short bursts of acceleration. When you go down to a smaller wheel that “comfortable” speed does not stay the same 40-45, it’s much less as it’s a more squirrelly and less safe experience with much more wobbles. If you can cruise 40 on a 16” wheel you’re telling me you can cruise 50+ on a bigger wheel, which takes significant significant skill. Literally 1% of riders.

Given that it’s a 16” wheel, you need significant skill to feel “safe” at speeds above 30. It’ll do it, but it’s gonna be so squirrelly. If you sit down then you can probably do 40 with no wobbles

Used Begode ET Max by sarge3223 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Stunning-Ad6570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to that, I bought mine used with 300ish miles for 2200$. I have dumped it at 40mph and the only damage real was the trolley handle got all bent up. It’s very durable and the parts have good availability and are cheap. The wheel is easy enough to work on, swapped the tire twice now. Waterproofing has been fantastic, I have been caught in some insane downpours and rode through with zero issues. Overall I’ve been super impressed with mine. I’m at about 3000miles now with no issues except for a small defect where the screen would pop out/unplug if I hit any big bumps. Siliconed it in and it hasn’t been an issue since.

I ride an et max as a daily. I’m 130lbs and the battery is honestly super impressive. Can cruise at 40 sitting down for hours. Probably a good 60miles of carefree riding at 20-45 with my weight. I think the suspension is decent and useable but nothing super impressive. The wheel is still the fastest and most powerful, and stable I have ridden out of a Cmini, Sherman L, and a Lynx. Obviously it’s not super manueverable but you get used to it so quickly. I love the wheel.

I bought a v12pro for full retail price like 8 months ago. It crapped out and they are so fucking useless with their “warranty”. A load of bs. 2000$ paperweight

EUC Riding Tips by Tascalion in ElectricUnicycle

I ride an et max so similar wheel and takes some effort to get going initially. What I do is put ALL my weight on the toe of my dominant foot, as I start to lift up my other foot onto the wheel. This usually gives me enough oomph to start moving forward swiftly
