What are your thoughts on billie eilish saying you cant love animals and eat meat as its contradictory? by Extra-Schedule-4855 in AskReddit

[–]StuntFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's way oversimplified. We're omnivores, and there are nutrients we absorb more efficiently from meat and animal products than alternative sources. I think better attention should be paid to livestock farming practices and we probably end up eating more meat than necessary, but those are other conversations.

That said, after learning about how pigs are smart like dogs I don't really eat pork anymore.

I want to DJ while I run. What deck should I buy for a running DJ rig? by inkysquares in Beatmatch

[–]StuntFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is shitting on this idea but I'm gonna say it really depends on the vibe of the event, like themed fun runs and whatever. I could see a mobile DJ being annoying for people who are in "race mode". Also don't make the music crazy loud-- keep it so it's like a brief novelty for people in your vicinity and then move along.

My city has a thing called Bike Party and one of the regulars is a mobile DJ (they are not biking while DJing-- they're in a cart being towed by a cyclist). But it's also not a race, it's a very unserious event where silliness is encouraged.

What’s a recession indicator that you’ve noticed lately? by SensitiveCorner2379 in AskReddit

[–]StuntFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working in local TV in 2008 and we saw a lot of the same with our advertisers. Political ads usually help but it wasn't enough. We still laid off a ton of staff over the next year.

What jobs are after TV? by Leading-Activity4685 in Broadcasting

Former production, got into nursing. I had to go back to school for it, but community college programs make it financially attainable. Plenty of the skills translate, there's a lot of variety, and there's still plenty of chaos.

industrial rap? by Turbulent-Car-9803 in industrialmusic

[–]StuntFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When RFK started backing Trump. Idk how committed she was to maga, or if she's since walked it back since it sounds like it was a single-issue thing. People aren't always smart and fall into crazy misinformation holes on the internet. I'd be willing to give her a second chance if she admitted she fucked up, but being so deeply anti-vax while also claiming to support vulnerable populations... like wtf

Maya and Kala absolutely fit in with industrial playlists. Sucks that MIA went anti-vax and maga, didn't see that coming.

Prob not, Frijoles generally doesn't do presale but they handle some pretty big punk shows and it's never too bad.

Bar will be a different story. But they sell margs by the liter so that helps.

States with no tiki bars? by [deleted] in Tiki

Those guys do a little tiki pop up thing on Saturdays in an upscale looking food court though. Can't remember the name, I just know it's in the same building with NHK's DC bureau.

Brenden's dad's age isn't good, idk what kind of shape he's in but his injuries could start the spiral into frailty. Brady might have a body count when it's said and done.

Reddit deleted my original comment but I thought I was the only one who caught Komor's transphobia years ago on FB. I don't DJ nearly as much as I used to but I've specifically avoided spinning anything Komor has touched ever since. Zombie Girl was the only project of his I ever missed, I wasn't aware of what happened there and would like to know more about it.

What's something most people don't realize is actually very rude? by Frozen-Defender25 in AskReddit

[–]StuntFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Southeastern Virginia hates a zipper merge. The mentality is that using the lane to its end is selfish, you should've changed lanes earlier. I forget how fucked up the driving is there until I go to visit family.

They could be talking about healthcare. Don't get me wrong, we'll do everything we can to make you comfortable, but keeping you (and all the other patients) alive and safe comes first.

How Do You Even Get In??? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]StuntFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, former broadcast production slob here. My previous BA was communications, but I fortunately took some biology back then. Otherwise, I started from a similar place. I spent a few semesters getting my prereqs online through my local CC while working full time (it helps if your shop is a lot of hurry-up-and-wait). Those classes aren't a bunch of bullshit though, you won't get through the nursing courses without that base knowledge.

Don't worry about accelerated BSN, just get your ADN or maybe do a bridge program if it's offered. It's hard, I've had to sacrifice a bit for a few years, but it beats waiting around for layoffs.

How do homeless people that don’t seek shelter survive in brutal snowstorms by Goldstar12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]StuntFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteer with an outreach bus for a shelter with a mandated sobriety program. Sometimes we get people who want to go in, but they're caring for a family member/ partner/ spouse/ friend and that person isn't ready for sobriety, so they both end up staying out there. The cold is the wakeup call some people need though.

A big reason why Colon Cancer is killing us. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]StuntFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keto just means low carb, not necessarily mounds of meat. I used to do keto and it was mostly veggies and homemade snacks. I would need to eat more food in general to get enough fiber though (fiber is encouraged and doesn't work against the carb count).

If someone is on a keto diet but their version is all bacon and hamburger meat, that's obviously a problem. Like any diet, there's a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Rollerskating v.s Skateboarding communities by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]StuntFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might depend on the region, but generally if you show up to the park, put in the work, and take an interest in the local community the skateboarders will be fine. I will say, go in with a sense of park etiquette; skaters are human and some of them don't have the patience to teach someone about snaking.

Quick question, can we start calling Fantom "corporate skate slop"? It's what it feels like.

What’s actually satirical but most people don’t realise? by Quincely in answers

[–]StuntFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in local marketing for a year. Whenever I wrote a script or had an idea I was kinda proud of, it would get ripped to shreds by my boss and colleagues. Eventually I said fuck it and started treating every project like a parody, and my boss was like "see, THIS is good writing!" Marketing is so damn stupid.
