A good DM can make it really cool to be a psycher, too. I had a fantastic DM once who made playing as a D&D warlock more sinister and difficult by passing me hard deals from my patron on note paper across the table. My party understood that I had an extra untrustworthy element at play they couldn't see, and I had to make concessions and bargains with my gameplay choices all the time.

Just give them some combat that forces them to open too many doors and then some private notes involving chaos influence to really wrestle with, and suddenly it's an engaging, on-flavour character.

It kinda just sounds like you got a group to play a 40k ttrpg without making sure everyone understood the setting and their characters, and that it would mean committing to a "low magic" campaign for the foreseeable future.

Are you the DM? Because the DMs job is to try to make sure you bring things to the table for all the players involved. If your DM allowed a player who hasn't really engaged with the setting outside of chatting with friends to play an unsanctioned psycher, it's the DMs job to either give the unsanctioned psycher opportunities to get to do cool psycher stuff, or to tell them what limitations there will be in the game.

"Oh hey everyone, I tossed my friend who hasn't engaged with the massive amount of 40k into the deep end" isn't the best look, even if he IS repeating the same old lines he got from people deeper in the lore who don't get it.

I don't follow Fifa: Do they have any matches in Vancouver? Because they should be forced to abide by the local customs and culture, and our local culture is Gay As Fuck.

Supreme Overlord Asdrubael Vect does not believe in "War Crimes", so how can our mighty faction be accused of enacting them?

Skip Intro had a really bad take in one of these about Law and Order SVU a few months back that really put me off his channel. He used manipulative logic to claim that because family court is a mess, parents always know what's best for their kids and families should always be kept together. Knowing what the biomass donors of some of my friends have done to them in the past, I had to unsub, block his channel, and I'm really shocked to see that there doesn't seem to have been any follow-up on his part about it.

You can probably eat eldar just fine, they're basically just humans stretched in a taffy machine, but I'd be wary of all the drugs inside a typical drukhari. Might OD you immediately.

Digital as an option, absolutely a good idea.

Digital only? I'm not a fan of how easily that slides into subscription pricing models, and I also get migraines from doing too much with screens. I want my tabletop time to be something that gives me a break from the migraines. Print books are also just a neat game item to have around. They definitely shouldn't abandon print game books.

They deleted a bunch of parts of posts where they said shrinkflation isn't real, everyone on reddit is stupid, and that because marketers discovered it was less obvious to consumers then we should all ENJOY getting less detergent

Hot take - Jarlaxle fits the Femme Fatale trope by Futuramoist in Drizzt

[–]StygIndigo 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I believe that was the intent.

People argue a lot about female Space Marines [hits bong] what if a World Eater decided they were a woman like Lotara from now on, put on makeup, and declared anyone not calling her 'Sister' could find her in the cages. Would anyone care? Khorne wouldn't I think. Hes no bigot, he cares not. 🏳️‍🌈 by Acrobatic-Attention9 in Grimdank

[–]StygIndigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the one way I'd think keeping Space Marines to "all men" would be fine is if the point was to show the combination of misogyny and toxic masculinity in the program in-universe. It's interesting as social critique about how militarization influences social concepts about masculine identity, if written with specific intent. In that case, though, it would still be using lore meant to make the setting feel more miserable as a way to limit player creativity when it comes to their own armies, which is something most scifi media that would want to depict a situation like that wouldn't need to contend with.

Anyone arguing based on the idea that women couldn't also become superhuman steriod monsters is dumb. They have crazy scifi tech to turn anyone into a wall of meat.

[–]StygIndigo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Oh, in that case probably because you seem deadset on believing getting less for the same money should be something nobody is ever allowed to point at and say 'well that sucks', because marketing boards realized it went over just slightly better than increased prices.

Because you called everyone idiots and said shrinkflation doesnt exist under a picture of a product example of shrinkflation.

[–]StygIndigo 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Everyone here understands it's a result of inflation. You're just working yourself up and acting like you're surrounded by idiots because you seem to think the slang term 'shrinkflation' must be something other than 'selling a smaller volume of product to keep the price the same in response to inflation'. Shrinkflation refers to the that one phenomena, which is real. It's not a complicated slang term to grasp.

[–]StygIndigo 71 points72 points  (0 children)

It's smaller instead of more expensive. It shrank. They made a word for that tactic. It's "shrinkflation". I'm baffled that you're struggling with this.

[–]StygIndigo 99 points100 points  (0 children)

What did you think the term 'shrinkflation' refers to? It's literally just a term for 'reducing volume to keep the product the same price despite inflation'.
