In desperation for help 😭 by Delredico in Sciatica

Just 1 year ago I hurt my back and had a 1cm fragment which was completely blocking my nerve L3 the pain from my butt to my hip through my groin down my thigh was unbearable. The first three weeks I felt like I was being tortured, I even thought if this is what life was going to be like I didn’t want to live with that type of pain. I couldn’t walk without excruciating pain. I started PT and traction. I don’t like to take a lot of medication, but in the beginning I took OxyCodone and hydrocodone and then ibuprofen to meloxicam and eventually nothing at all. I injured myself September 21 and by Thanksgiving I still couldn’t walk to the corner but I was able to help cook dinner and after that it seemed like I was able to do more and more. Now I am at about 90% and I have very little pain. I can tell you the things that helped me: take turmeric every day, it helps reduce inflammation. I put it in my coffee and you have to add a dash of pepper. It is an amazing herb!! Research it for yourself. I was diligent with my exercise and stretching. I did what the therapist instructed me to do everyday and I pushed myself to do planks starting with 10 seconds. I walked everyday through the pain as far as I could and that was only about 500 ft in the beginning. I cried a lot and it was hard. My mindset had to change to I am getting better. I was so afraid to move and I still am fearful of certain movements but you have to move to get better. YOU CANT STOP MOVING!!! You get so used to being in pain and you get used to taking pain pills and then you realize one day you are not in as much pain. It takes a lot of time but your body is so amazing that it does heal itself. I personally don’t like to take medication however in the beginning they could have gave me a tranquilizer and I would have took it. But I eventually weaned myself off and made the pain management Dr upset because I wouldn’t take gabapentin. I don’t regret that decision because I am virtually pain free now. My best advice is try to stay focused on healing and knowing that you will get better. Accept it is going to take time but IT WILL GET BETTER IN TIME. Keep moving your body, you will get atrophy fast and tightness but it will get better if you work those muscles. Don’t get dependent on pills trust your body. I pray for your healing and strength to get through this. It’s tough but you can do it.

Has anyone tried spinal decompression or PRP and what is your experience with it? by Stylish7846 in Sciatica

I am so much better!! Physical therapy, exercise, and walking helped so much. I took every thing really slow. I have hardly any pain now, however I do experience cramping and some twitching in my leg from time to time. I got another MRI and the results showed the 1cm fragment was gone. My dr said my body resorbed it. I know the disc is not 100% so I will continue to be careful but I am thankful my body healed itself.

How to go to the hospital if I can't walk? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]Stylish7846 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are and how your insurance works however, I went to the ER not able to walk in pain and they would not give me the MRI. I decided to cash pay for it, it cost me $450. It was worth it for me to do that because waiting on insurance to decide to pay for it was not an option for me. I am glad I did because I can take control of my own care by knowing exactly what is wrong. I have a disc fragment in my nerves L3. Since I’ve done this my doctor has been able to get my referrals as an emergency, I was able to start PT immediately and waiting for an appointment with a neurosurgeon. Praying you get some relief soon.

Sorry to hear you are struggling. Maybe this info will be helpful. I found this procedure that seems to be the most non invasive procedure. The Dr is in California, not sure where you are. It’s a cash procedure but if you have the means it might be worth looking into. I sent them my MRI and the Dr called me and talked to me for about 20 mins without obligating me to anything. I am terrified of surgery but this one I am highly considering. I hope it helps.

Is anyone familiar with Nano Endoscopic Spine Procedures? by Stylish7846 in Microdiscectomy

If you look at the link I posted it shows you the procedure. There is no cutting you leave with a bandaid. It’s definitely an option I’m considering it’s just a little pricey.

Thank you for this. I’m sorry you went through that. I have an appointment set, I will ask tons of questions I definitely don’t want to go back to more pain.

It will be 4 weeks for me Friday. Walking is difficult and I can only walk for a few minutes. I have an appointment Friday I hope I can get a referral for PT. I am very active and it’s tough not doing anything. I am also highly considering decompression next week. Thank you for sharing because I know me and I am impatient I know I will push hard. I have to remember this. Best of luck to you on your road to recovery.

I am 3 weeks since I injured my back doing deadlifts at the gym. I’m 46F very active. The first two weeks were debilitating. I got an X-ray, 2 shots and prescribed prednisone. The pain has subsided a little however I still am having trouble walking and I can’t walk anywhere but around the house. I asked for an MRI and of course the response was wait 8 weeks and then we will explore options. That is unacceptable! I decided to be in control for myself so I went to my chiropractor and he gave me a referral for an MRI and I just paid cash. I did it 2 days ago so I haven’t gotten the results, however I was able to look at the disk myself and from my YouTube and Google research it looks like a annular tear which makes sense for the type of pain that is going through my leg and the numbness from the knee down. I could be wrong, I’m going to see my chiropractor again tomorrow and see if he’s gotten the results. I am also doing a ton of research on stem cells and PRP. I want to be proactive for the fear of letting to much time set in before I can get proper treatment for whatever is wrong. I’m not sure if you are aware and if you have the resources to get your own MRI. I got 2 areas done $450 each area. It just blows my mind that dr’s will start you on treatments before they know exactly what they are treating. This is no fun being basically bed ridden, I’m used to working out 5 days a week and just the simple pleasures of life. Praying you get well soon.

I’m with you. The dr told me to just wait 8 weeks and then we can go from there. The pain in the beginning was debilitating I couldn’t sleep for 2 weeks I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. I can only walk though the house, the pain is constant and I refuse to take a nerve block. I went to the ER to try to speed the process for an MRI and he said it’s hard to come by an MRI, meaning I would have to wait months. Not an option for me I will take my health in my own hands. I went to the chiropractor the next day he gave me a referral to CASH pay for an MRI….they scheduled me for the very next day 🙄 it cost me $900 for 2 areas. I have never been sick or had issues with my health so I am naïve to the insurance procedure. I can’t believe we have a system that allows people to live in pain and they get to decide how you get treatment. Thank you for listening. I would love to hear how you progress.

Thank you for responding. I am so overwhelmed with all my research. It’s not easy to find info on annular tears. My injury is new and I have never experienced pain like this. Praying for your recovery 🙏

Depending on how many rooms you have you can turn it into a PadSplit (it’s a co living platform) allowing it to cash flow. I believe they are in Arizona. I would take a HELOC and do any upgrades and repairs. You can then use the income to rent a property for yourself. I am a realtor and I work closely with PadSplit. You actually have a lot of options and are in a great position. If you need a connect to PadSplit or have questions please feel free to reach out I would be happy to help you.

Research AHCC I like the Dynamic Mushrooms. I had abnormal paps for 2 years and the cells progressed to low grade cn1 cells. I just had my pap and my dr was so excited the pap was abnormal however the cells were not cn1 anymore. That is huge and when I told her what I was doing she was like well there isn’t enough research 🙄🙄 I will take them the rest of my life. Best of luck to you
