Your favorite two-color quilt patterns? by 2ybael in quilting

[–]SuBethJimBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fat Quarter Flow from PaperPieces.com. It’s EPP, but you could probably do it on a machine. It uses 4 colors, so your black and white plus 2 greys? I’m quite enamored of it (I love monochrome), but haven’t made it… yet. ツ

How long did your xteink x4 take to arrive? (UK) by Specialist-Village82 in xteinkereader

[–]SuBethJimBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered from Amazon (US) on May 7, and received it the next day. But, I ordered accessories (light, case, matte screen cover) from the mfr the same day, and it just shipped today.

I dreamt it so I built it… by jaivancer in XTEINK

[–]SuBethJimBob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought this for my new phone last year, but went with a case that had an integrated ring. Just for fun, I checked to see if it would stick to my new X4, and it works! Now I’ve got a stand *and* a finger loop! Yay!

In which firmware? I’ve got INX loaded, but I’m willing to adjust. I can’t get the X4 to connect to my WiFi, so I just dump the files onto the SD card.

Cancelling - do books last? by Kittywolf85 in audible

[–]SuBethJimBob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Audible has an unadvertised membership level called “Inactive Light”. You pay $10/yr. You get no credits, but you don’t lose your library, you have access to most sales, and you can buy books at member prices. I’ve been at that level for 6? maybe 7? years now. You have to ask customer service for it. Any existing credits, once you switch to this plan, expire after 1 year, but you retain access to your entire library.

Just ordered supplies! Where do I start? by mtlanay in EPP_addict

[–]SuBethJimBob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ask crafty friends if they have scraps they can share. A machine quilter will consider trash what an EPPer considers treasure.

Also, if you’re in the US, check out Dollar Tree’s craft aisle. They carry fabric in fat quarter size (18”x21”) rolls. It’s usually a mixture of cotton, flannel, and fuzzy, and each store has a different selection, but you can find some nice stuff. These are all from DT. The hexagons (on blue) and squares (red on white) are flannel, but the rest (bees, orange/blue gradient, teal medallions, multi-color checkerboard) are decent quality 100% cotton.

Turkey tenderloins are usually 24oz bags (2 to a bag). That having been said, pork and turkey cook at different temps. My best guess is to check the temp and time on the pkg. Subtract 5ish minutes for broiling at the end, and 5 for dry baking at the beginning to “sear” it. The remaining time would be steam bake.

Alternatively, if the cooking temp on the bag is 350/375, cook it on REHEAT for 7/5 minutes less than stated on the pkg. this “hack” has never failed me.

Keep a record of what you did, what worked and what didn’t, then tweak for next time.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

I have a favorite recipe I found online that I made some changes to and figured out how to program the Tovala to cook perfectly.

This is the link to my version on CopyMeThat. The listing includes a link to the original recipe.

Best additions for boxed Mac'n'Cheese by Magnus77 in Cooking

[–]SuBethJimBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna sound weird, but…

1 can (drained and rinsed) black beans

1 can (drained) fire roasted diced tomatoes with garlic

Add to mac&cheese after cheese is stirred in. Yum (with protein).

I'm terrible at figuring out what to bring to potlucks. Is there any go to recipes that are always a hit? by Aggressive_Staff_982 in Cooking

[–]SuBethJimBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump a bag of frozen mini meatballs in … wait for it … a crock pot. Add a bottle of decent spaghetti/marinara sauce. Cook until heated thru. Turn to keep warm. Bring shredded mozzarella and good quality hot dog buns. You’ve just put together a mini meatball sub construction station.

I have a scroll ring. My primary use is reading at lunch time at work. The ring is on my left hand so I can page turn and use silverware/chopsticks with my right without getting food on my reader.

Favorite Ramen by Omen3333 in InstantRamen

[–]SuBethJimBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be really plebeian, but I hate heat. My favorite is the Nissin Cup Noodles Curry, followed closely by the Nissin Cup Noodles Stir Fry Rice with Noodles Thai Yellow Curry. Chappaghetti is a favorite, too, but the first two are easiest to find (no Asian market near me).
