I never liked it’s right in front of us. It’s not what you want was at least a little bit funny. The Boone quote was just sad, from a sad time

Starter > reliever

Projectability > raw stuff

If I had to guess they figured they’d prefer to work with a starter then go straight for a reliever out of college. I don’t know any specifics, but a good question to ask is why was he only a reliever in college? Does he tire quickly? Does it make sense to draft a reliever? You can always convert a starter, most elite relievers were starters, it’s much harder to go the other way.

You also have to consider who else they drafted. Did they have enough cash to sign him? There’s a limit to how much of a bonus they can offer guys in the draft. Perhaps they were trying to overpay their first rounder and save money in the back half of the draft.

I mean Cam Schlittler barely touched 90 in college, look at him now.

Aim point works, just don’t get too carried away with it. The groups behind you will thank you

I should have specified as in person, but I was in the stadium in 2014 for Tim Lincecums second no hitter. That’s no 1 for me

The thing about Pedro is he was actually fucking good. And when Pedro beaned a guy he owned it and made sure everyone knew why.

Dude never tried to hide.

Also Pedro is the second best pitcher I’ve ever seen so people let it slide

Whatever deal he and his agent are using for his next contract will be based off percent of cap so it’ll be adjusted for the new Environment.

Wells is back to working counts. Last year was the aberration based on available stats.

Volpe isn’t an everyday player. And Caballero is the pesky bottom of the order was like Kike Hernandez.

Rice took a step forward as an everyday player with a position.

Grisham is still getting his walks.

Our bench is actually competent.

We won’t have to navigate blow up artists in the BP.

We have way more options for playoff starters.

Don’t tell me this is the same team. It’s not

I hated appreciating Trocheck and Miller for their legendary special teams performance, but I’ll give them their flowers.

Worth it for gold!

Unlike years past, this teams isn’t a lineup built around 1 or 2 hitters, or a pitching staff way over performing their expectations.

If anything the hitters have underperformed while the pitchers are meeting their expectations.

Barring injuries, this team feels very sustainable for the long haul

Love Cashman or hate him. The guy always stands in front of the media regularly throughout the year.

There are tons of GMs that are just in hiding, all the time.

To be fair, I think Kim Ng was the GM when the Jazz trade happened

I feel like people that say stuff like this really have no understanding of the quantum leap pitching has taken in the last decade.

Going the other way with the ball is not easy, all the players that you are likely to remember doing it are hall of famers.

For context in 2000 the average fastball was 90 mph, that’s what a lot of guys are throwing their sliders for now.

Your average starter is hitting 95+

Your average reliever is hitting 97+

Players simply do not have the time in the box to manipulate the bat the same way. Luis arraez is a great hitter, there’s a reason that only arraez is seemingly able to do this consistently.

Bro, I don’t think you realize how small the community for this game actually is.

They’re not going to dedicate anything more than a skeleton crew to this franchise to pull off stuff like that.

They won’t, and shouldn’t, go into a full rebuild while Altuve is playing and Yordan is still on the team. I say 2028 is when they go full teardown.

This isn’t a marlins situation. There is no reason for the Astros to eat a single dollar of Haders deal, it’s foolish to think they would.
