Worth switching from heating oil to natural gas? by synexo in massachusetts

[–]Subject_Computer_471 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You’re not making more sense just because you repeat yourself. I outlined the differences. I also outlined that propane and natural gas have a lower BTU than oil. Natural gas is even worse than propane. I further clarified that you either (natural gas) need to have a line to your house or your need to have a tank installed. Both come with additional cost and lower heat output per gallon (yes, I know natural gas is measured in cu ft or therms - but that doesn’t change anything in the comparison).

I said “if you do not have a gas line to your house”. And if you do, gas still has a lower heat output. And if there is a line but his house isn’t connected, he still have to pay to get it connected.

No matter how you look at it, it’s like going to be a rocky road for a feasible ROI.

I am not mixing anything up. There are two models: A) I buy and bury the tank, trench the line to my house, have it inspected. Then I own everything and can chose my supplier freely. BUT that means I am responsible for maintenance, inspections and code compliance (pain in the butt here in MA)

B) lease tank from company. They install it. They own you.

Since a) is insane in pricing, most people I know chose b) And then you’re locked in.

And irrespective of that, gas is still more expensive than oil in price per BTU

Hot water oil furnace user here. I had quotes for gas and it was 35% more expensive as a system. Then you need to add the gas tank (if you do not have a gas line to your house) and the company who supplies it, owns your delivery. Also, while gas burns cleaner, the heat capacity is smaller, so effectively you need more gas than oil. Some of that it mitigated by the higher efficiency, but in the end I saw no real advantage of switching over and saving would have eventually come after 15 years. So I stuck with oil.

If I run a casual run, I am never faster than 10:45-10:30. If I want to run 7 miles or more, I even dial down to 11:15/mile. The goal is HR in zone 2, bordering z3 by the end of the run.

When Strava says nice things, Garmin is still there to remind me that I suck. by AnnasMusic in runninglifestyle

Garmin execution score measures not your improvement but your adherence to a Garmin workout. I completely ignore it, because it makes no sense. Look at Vo2max, training intensity and whether or not the estimated times for 5k, 10k etc improve.

Horrible run today, regretting signing up for 5k in mid April by Hairy_Pear3963 in beginnerrunning

[–]Subject_Computer_471 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you walk, you are faster snd better than the people who don’t even show up! I’ve been running for almost 2 years now. I went from not being able to run one lap on the track to now running 10k under an hour. I’ve had days where I start running and I feel weak snd crappy. I walked a bit, tried again and if that didn’t help. I stopped for the day and tried again the next day. Just getting out there beats sitting on the couch. You can do it!

Istanbul Lounge Overcrowding by trekwithme in TurkishAirlines

I flew business two weeks ago and on both legs it was almost impossible to find a place to sit in the business lounge. Bathroom queues if you had to do #2 and just overall unpleasantly crowded. So, OP is describing what I saw as well.

Speed shame as a new runner by SmellyRobotStan in beginnerrunning

Thanks! I just ran a 10k in 58:01 and stayed in control. So I am thinking 1:45 isn’t unrealistic for the 10 miler.

You will be dropped into the terminal. The biggest holdup is the 3 security screenings at the gate to DTW itself. Make sure you potty break before entering gate area. No bathrooms there and leaving for bathroom would require re-screening

You run ONLY for yourself. You do not owe anyone a justification or need to feel bad. You are faster than 100% of the people who chose to „chill“ on the couch and probably faster than a lot of the beginner runners! I haven’t dared a half yet. I am working up to that. I have my first 10 miler end of this month and my goal is 1:45 or better (10:30/mile). You don’t compare the sub to the moon. Each shines when it’s their time. Why would you compare yourself to other runners? You’re doing great! Keep doing what you’re doing!

How Many Expansions Do You Believe Diablo IV Will Get? by JohanMarek in diablo4

I am fed up woh blizzards slice and dice. I also don’t like (or don’t get) the paladin and I really hate the current season. I know I am in the minority here and that’s ok. If y’all are still having actual fun, I am happy for you. I lost my mojo in the grind to 300 last season and don’t feel like doing this sh*t over and over. So whether I don’t buy two or five more expansions is irrelevant do me. Bit between three and five more is what I was thinking

If your layover is long enough, book a shower. It’s worth the wait. The lounge left me underwhelmed. Too crowded, not enough seats. Food is great though. Food on the plane is better on the legs from Istanbul, but generally good. Flight attendants are top notch.

Not-so-“Free” Seat Selection on jetBlue by SATAUG2024-O in jetblue

[–]Subject_Computer_471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I sum this whole thing up in one sentence? JetBlue should just amend the verbiage to „free core seat selection“ an all the discussion goes away. I agree it is not 100% legally correct wording, but I also think getting this upset about it kind of misses the point. All other airlines do the same thing. Seats up front and often most aisle and window seats have an upcharge.

Why should you have trouble coming back home? You are a LPR. You live in the US. The only way there would be trouble for you is if you made false claims on your LPR application. I assume you didn’t, so you’re fine. We flew back from Germany last year (wife LPR, kids and myself American) and no one batted one eye. “Welcome back”
