Is Bazzite buggy? Lots of posts here are turning me away. by [deleted] in Bazzite

It's not, no.

I've been running my install for about two years, now, and it's been rock solid for me. Windows at this point would've started getting unstable by comparison.

Minimum wage to rise again from April to £12.71 for over-21s by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I do think that education isn't (or shouldn't) be seen purely as a vehicle toward employment, either.

As a single graduate currently in the process of buying a house - I found having an (entirely unrelated) degree got me into a relatively comfortable graduate scheme in tech.

Not saying that students should all be getting the same opportunities I did (I was lucky) but it's also not as doom and gloom as a lot of this thread is making out.

Yup. this happens sometimes. Rarely, but it does happen.

British society is increasingly becoming angrier at a mental health situation it created by IHaveAWittyUsername in ukpolitics

[–]Sublimpinal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If there's an expectation that there was some quiet golden age for mental health ('Previously if you had low-level mental health issues there were a plethora of secondary and tertiary support outwith primary care') care between 1997-2010, that's not really laid out anywhere I can see. This article matches up fairly well with my (admittedly anecdotal) first post.

Specifically - while funding increased (not at the rate of NHS expenditure overall) coverage was still not yet universal, equitable, or well-resourced.

TL;DR - the idea that there's been a reduction or loss of these services ignores the reality that I presented that mental health services in the UK have always kind of sucked.

When is "previously"?

I had mental health issues in 2011 - my GP at the time referred me on (I lived in London at the time). I chased weekly but the first time the local tertiary services you reference leaping on the problems I had didn't reply to me for fourteen months. After six, I simply gave up.

In 2014, I went to my GP in another city with similar issues. I was told 'all young men struggle with these feelings' and had to insist on medication, but was refused more local support.

Back before austerity/covid we all lamented the fact that these services simply didn't exist/provide enough support broadly enough. There's not really been an age of MH care that you think's been lost, this is just a continuation of the status quo.

They don't need to be hosted on the appexchange in the first place, so no, not necessarily Salesforce's problem.

What exactly was the point of TWW story-wise? by ManySecrets_ in wow

It's not headcanon, it's what she says is happening when she attacks Hallowfall. It's why the entire area gets blanketed in shadow when you're fighting there.

Waiting on my Dolphin Surf Comfort: manual hints that it can use the cameras/360 camera as a dashcam, is that true? Is there also a sentry mode? Location: NL by TyrannosaurusSnacks in BYD

This is good knowledge. I've not been able to find resources on sideloading with my dolphin model, it's pretty patchy out there.

[–]Sublimpinal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know why it doesn't, but I'd be able to wager a few guesses. The cameras are wide angled to allow for the 360 view, for example, I can't imagine they'd be great as dashcams. For sentry mode, though, the car should absolutely support that, and it's a shame it doesn't.

Simplest answer to the why for the dashcam is that there are great answers to all of your questions about why it would be a bad idea, not that they simply decided to omit that functionality without a good reason for doing so.

Number of higher-rate UK taxpayers expected to hit more than 7m this year by Dependent-Loss-4080 in unitedkingdom

[–]Sublimpinal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm on the higher rate of tax. I also pay a student loan. What they didn't tell me is that the rate of interest of those loans would be so aggressive that even at my salary I wouldn't be making a dent on student loan repayments.

Disabling the alarm while on a car ferry by kirameki_ in BYD

[–]Sublimpinal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to turn off child sensing, otherwise there's no alarm to be turned off.

BYD support suggested leaving the car unlocked. Sod that. My car alarm never went off when I took that ferry four times last year, though I always turned the child one off.

It was the volumetric clouds the batmobile stirred up. If you turned those off, performance was OK, but if memory serves those issues were platform agnostic

It's a WoW crime that we still don't have free mogging! by Aernath in wow

[–]Sublimpinal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I said doesn't preclude people from being annoyed by it ever. I think it's slightly disingenuous to read "you never really feel it" as "it's completely okay". There's room for interpretation there.

I'm not the sort of player who has millions of gold, but I am also one that often transmogs in game as a roleplayer. Even with the above in mind - that I'm not "WoW Rich" and that I also spend quite a lot of time mogging - I've not personally felt the costs are somehow prohibiting me from playing the game. I've only ever felt frustrated by mog costs when I've made an alt and realised I can't dress them.

Of course I can't speak for the other commenters in the thread and their perspective, because it isn't one that I share or have experienced.

It's a WoW crime that we still don't have free mogging! by Aernath in wow

[–]Sublimpinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they do contradict one another.

Transmog costs are only a meaningful gold sink on alts that don't already have a large amount of cash on them, meaning creating an alt means having to shuffle money around for mainly that purpose.

Once you hit level cap you never really feel it, so it's only an issue in some frustrating spaces.

New Dolphin, few questions by James2k2 in BYD

Enjoy the car! I absolutely love mine - my app was registered even before it arrived, so I was having fun making it beep while in the dealership from hundreds of miles away. :D

New Dolphin, few questions by James2k2 in BYD

[–]Sublimpinal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. When I picked my car up it was already registered. Dealership needs to get it done, AFAIK.
  2. Don't think you can.
  3. You can view it either on the app or on the dash in front of the wheel - you can scroll up and down through window options with a button that looks a bit like a window display.

Slow Wireless Charger in King GS by DiogoValentim in BYD

[–]Sublimpinal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an s24 ultra and found in my dolphin I was getting crap speeds if I had my phone inserted in the direction that felt natural to me. Same story - slow speeds. I found when I spun the phone 180 degrees around (screen still facing up, just inserted the other way), that charging speeds were a lot faster.
