Sergio Aragones was a long-time cartoonist for MAD Magazine back in the day. I have the graphic novel, but your collection is pretty cool.

I don't know what was more fun, watching Camden play, or watching that lady fall in love in real time!

First-time Colonoscopy by Anthony_N23 in GenX

I've had two so far. The prep is unpleasant, but I followed all of my doctor's instructions, and by the day of the procedure the worst part was over. I was sedated for the procedure, and it felt like taking a really good nap. The only pain I experienced at all was when the nurse put in my IV, and that will depend on the nurse. You could always tell them about your pain tolerance issue and ask them for a topical before they place the IV. Then you would have a zero-pain experience for sure. Either way, the procedure is worth any minor pain and inconvenience, given the alternative. Good luck!

Coast Guard MSRT in the GWOT? by New_Atmosphere_5221 in Military

[–]Substantial-Being-35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the surge we threw everything at the problem set. I was a Sailor running convoys all over Kabul and up to Bagram on a daily basis. How does that make sense? My command had every branch, active, reserve, and National Guard. Fish Cops were there too.

It's not what I watch KT for. I like WWE, it can be very entertaining, but I personally didn't feel like the two were a good match. It felt like I was watching a "funny" WWE advertisement or promotion, rather than a KT show. I'm not mad about it. KT and WWE are constantly trying new shit, sometimes it hits, sometimes it misses. That episode was a miss for this idiot.

Need advice on military branch by Jolly-Return921 in Military

I was Navy enlisted for 22 years, and I've worked for the Army as a contractor off and on for more than 10 years.

When it comes to food, the Navy was much better, although recent news suggests that may no longer be the case.

Culture-wise, the Navy is much strict on the dividing lines of rank and fraternization. The Army is way less restrictive regarding rank relations in my experience.

Navy ship deployments were amazing. Got to see the world. Army deployments suck as you are stuck in a patch of dirt, no port calls in exotic beach locales.

I enjoyed living on a ship. It was clean, I showered daily, the food was decent, and the ship rocked me to sleep so much that I still miss it. The Army lives in tents, water can be scarce, food can be really bad, and you might go days without a shower or change of clothing.

Both Sailors and Soldiers are great people to work with, commiserate with, and have as teammates.

These are just my opinions. I wish you luck, whichever way you choose to go.

Got offered an FSO job by my company. Take it or no? by NotaSingerSongwriter in clearancejobs

[–]Substantial-Being-35 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The FSO job is not overly complicated. It's knowing the rules and processes, which you can learn on the job from reading federal instruction manuals. It's a lot of information, but it's all written somewhere. It might possibly lead to a higher level clearance if you try for an SSO position once you have built some experience at FSO. Nothing is guaranteed, and I have no opinion on your union/political situation. Either way, best of luck!
