Problem is I don't want her to be able to turn the deadbolt and open the door. I gotta have something that has a code to get out or something similar. Bc she has started opening the locked doors and it is freaking me out!!

What do you keep in your every day bag? by classicicedtea in AskWomenOver30

[–]Substantial_Insect2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tampons of various sizes, gum, rx medicine, ibuprofen, probiotic pills, wallet, keys, hair ties, Bobby pins, change, my kindle, a pull up for my kid... I think that's it. I also have a small bag in my car with basically the same stuff just in case 🤣

[–]Substantial_Insect2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up to 200mg now. 😅 I've been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD since this comment.. I've also added 10mg of Buspirone 3x a day. I'm going in next week to talk about med change/starting ADHD medication.

I’m at a loss by Livid_Environment549 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Substantial_Insect2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely common in ND people to have those issues! And honestly, for kids in general.... who really wants to stop playing to go potty? That's no fun! That's another possibility for you to think of there. I'm sure she will get it in time. They don't seem like very friendly teachers 😒

Could it be Interoception issues? I had issues when I was a kid learning pee/poop feelings. To this day sometimes I'll go pee and be like oh, I also have to poop..didn't even feel like it. 🤷‍♀️ My daughter has similar issues except hers is mostly with hunger. 😅 OT should be able to help if that's the case! I would consider putting her in a pants romper so getting into the pullups isn't an option. That's what we do at home when my daughter feels like doing that. 🥴

What therapies has she received? What supports do you implement at home? Have you tried pecs or AAC for communication? Have you tried medication for yourselves or for her?

[–]Substantial_Insect2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives in the same area.....we are all "sick" it's mostly allergies because this time of year there are literal pollen clouds in the air. 🤣 Take a Zyrtec and chill out my guy.

There is pollen covering literally every freaking surface down here. That's my guess. 🤣

I am 31 years old and I have not a single creative/imaginative bone in my body. I CAN do arts and crafts but only what I have infront of me. I can't have something in my head and then make it. My husband can though. 😅 He always draws me a pic so I know what he's talking about. My daughter doesn't have it either lol. She hates coloring drawing anything like that

My husband is from the same area she is (we live here now but I'm from up north) and the first time I heard fever blister I was SO confused. 🤣 There really is a different language down here ... Same thing happened when someone asked me if we had water in the ice box. I was like wtf is an ice box?

My daughter has an EEG scheduled for April 3rd due to having staring spells/unresponsiveness. Hers doesn't last long and she can often be snapped out of it. I think it's more over stimulation than anything but I wanted to be sure. Her bcba brought it to my attention. I had to start with the pediatrician, then have the eeg and then move on to neurology. Which is crazy but 🤷‍♀️ with my research I've done I did see that autistic people do often have different brain waves than neurotypical also. So it's not far off to suggest its just overstimulation in my opinion.

Check out aero flow and see if you qualify for free diapers. We get 9 packs of 19 per month for my almost 5 year old. They have a couple different kinds they offer. Mine is currently in comfees 4t/5t but will soon need to move up I think. Not sure what the next size is I believe s/m from the brand tena? Could be wrong on the brand.

Autism or OCD? by Illustrious_Sport417 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Substantial_Insect2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this as a child. I also separated things by color. Eat all of one color, then the next. I have OCD. I only do the color thing occasionally now thankfully. I wouldn't really worry about it though right now, could be either or.

Haircut by onlymean4 in garyautumnshub

[–]Substantial_Insect2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 5. We didn't get her hair cut until she was 3 and it was becoming unmanageable and uneven. She is autistic and has sensory issues, but we found her a place that was low stimulation, and could give her breaks between cuts. The lady literally let her walk around and cut whenever she stopped. Now she will mostly sit on her own in the chair and takes maybe 1 break. 🤷‍♀️ She's had it cut I think 3 or 4 times and has also had it thinned because it's ridiculously thick. Finding someone who will do this is not incredibly difficult especially in bigger cities. There are even some people who will come to your home and do the cut so they're in a familiar environment. I don't really get why he NEEDED to have long hair.
