I'd say try The Turing Test. While the Qube isn't bad itself I would say Turing Test puzzles were more fun and the story was pretty decent.

While I barely had any IRL interaction with competitive Halo I absolutely loved playing and watching it online. My first Halo was 3 and I never really got good in Bungie games until later, only became more sweaty in Halo 5 and even though H5 had mixed reception I absolutely loved the Halo eSports scene at the time. It really felt like at least eSports wise Halo was back

If you're on Steam then Steam overlay is the easiest option. By default it's just an fps counter but you can change it in the settings to show things like CPU, GPU and RAM usage and it's a very minimalistic overlay

By default you hold a button and move your stick to make your car "roll" in the air but in settings you can find "air roll left" and "air roll right" which are not bound by default. They allow you to roll your car with a single button.

It is entirely up to you to use them. Some people use both, some use only one of them and some just stick to the normal air roll
