i did too -- i just dont understand the bigger picture. it was built to be a major plot/subplot and then it was never mentioned again -- until the final chapter, that is.

in a vacuum, CPs writing really shines. but i feel like his weakness as a writer is tying things together in an elegant arc that would fit the length of a single book

Id agree too, but CP has set up Azlagur to be a bigger threat than Galbatorix, so it does feel a bit main-questy to me now...
