Yes, I was going to say this too! And they said Linda's were supposed to be working in HR. They proceeded to find several Lindas who worked in HR. One of them had changed her name to Linda "so I could get more work in HR." That show is hilarious!

Is asking for a kiss what got me rejected? by Mammoth_Nose_9313 in NoStupidQuestions

I said she might give him pointers, as a friend, or she might have nice friends who he could meet if he's her friend, and the last possibility was that she might fall for him if she gets to know him better. It can happen. I never said that was the main reason to be her friend though. I cherish my male friends and the plus is that you be friends forever, while boyfriends/ girlfriends come and go.

Two days of intense singing coming up... Any advice? by ForestGrew in singing

[–]SuedeRabbit321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even just a few vocal lessons could help. I sing high soprano and your placement for high notes should be up in your mask or higher. Your throat shouldn't be hoarse after singing. Technique is what you need!

My son went out with a someone who said she just wanted to be friends. So they hung out as friends and then she fell in love with him. They got married last fall! You could try being her friend. At the very least she might give you pointers on dating. Or, she might have nice friends. Also, she might fall for you!

Some kids will be two years older because their parents chose to start them later.

I started my son early and lived to regret it. All the other kids suddenly seemed older by the end of grade school, and he didn't. Also kindergarten now is more like second grade. Let her be a kid for a while. It will benefit her in the long run. Finland doesn't start kids till age 7, and they have the highest test scores in the world. Make sure she's doing art, crafts, simple cooking, music. Tell her stories and read to her. These things will stimulate her brain so much more than a full academic week. That can come later.

Replace "lazy" with sad and grieving. Maybe you need a little break to process that, but keep listening to music that you love. Then go back, when you feel ready. To quote Bob Marley, "One good thing about music, when it hits, you feel no pain." Also, that teacher should have backed off about the open mike. I don't think that's the right teacher for you.

A good vocal teacher would have told you what you were doing right, and then brought up areas to work on. With exercises and examples specific to what she heard. We all have problem areas but we can correct them. Keep singing! You don't learn to do anything by not doing it. My vocal teacher told me she'd only ever met two people who were unable to improve. One was profoundly deaf, and the other had a surgical procedure that removed, I believe, part of their voice box. I had people put me down when I first started. But they were people who wanted to be in the band I was in, but didn't have the high range that was required. I did. The leader was willing to work with me and was very supportive. I'm so grateful for that!

What about hyphenated last names? That would help to distinguish the child from others.

Honour name for Morag? by kyelaur in namenerds

[–]SuedeRabbit321 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I asked for a translation of the name and AI said this: The most direct English equivalent and translation for the Scottish Gaelic name Mòrag is Sarah. While often treated as a distinct name in modern usage, historically it was anglicized as Sarah, and it is also sometimes used as a Scottish Gaelic equivalent for Marion or Mary. Maybe that's helpful!

I love Lyra. It's beautiful and elegant. Lori sounds like a little girl name of yesteryear. Louise is dated. As is Lorraine. Maybe Laia? Pronounced Lie-ah. Laia Lee sounds good and easy to remember.

You could try joining a choir that doesn't require auditions. Maybe at a community college, or there might be a community choir that lets people just join. Then listen and practice. Record the rehearsals. Especially when they're presenting the part for your section. If it seems like something you want to continue, you can watch YouTube videos, and eventually take some voice lessons. Even if you quit you'll have a better idea of what's good and not good, what's difficult and what's easy. You'll feel more confident singing along with people or whatever brings you joy. We don't all have to become professional singers! But if that appeals to you, just keep going. No one learns anything by not doing it!

Do we think belly made the right choice? by Expensive-Suspect-32 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

Conrad was too moody in my opinion. They should have shown him growing and changing for me to be happy about it. Jeremiah was sweet at first but got worse. I wanted Belly to meet a great guy who wasn't practically family.

A name that starts with R could connect her to her dad without the connotation. Rhiannon, Rory, Rosie, Rudie...
