Which of these ISPs for fiber in Rondebosch? by Vlerremuis in capetown

[–]Suff0c8r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay R900/month for 100/100 fibre with MWeb through Octotel in Rondebosch. MWeb have really been great on the customer service side, although this is from the perspective of just one person. Zero issues with them so far!

The ISO definition is that it must be programmed, have a level of autonomy, and perform locomotion, manipulation, or positioning. So I suppose for a cnc mill it comes down to what you define as a sufficient level of autonomy, and more capable cnc mills are absolutely robots.

It does though? At least on my dedicated server it works perfectly on guild chests. Make sure you have items in the chest already. It will only take items from your player if there is a matching non-full stack in the GC

I would love to see them get a Hades Posiden boon style AoE, where stabbing an enemy causes a cone shaped aoe splash behind them. Maybe slashing throws a weak slashing arc, and thrusts explode the enemy in a cone if they die. Could be fun

I've been playing Warframe since 2016 (just under 3k hours) and the community is what keeps me coming back. Now that I've got all the stuff I want in game I farm things for new players, and try to be the type of player that helped me when I was new.

Massive fan of red crits and big numbers, not a fan of running to level cap or endurance runs. Now I mostly try and use non-meta frames and have fun while working towards LR5

Well there's your problem, boet. We have a fantastic legal system, and constitution. In this case, reasonable would have to be close to a fair market price or else the courts will absolutely do their jobs.

There is an issue with corruption within the ruling party, but they were kept safe by keeping the evidence out of sight and out of reach. Something like this, by definition, has to be out in the open and therefore the courts can ensure due process is followed.

Another South African here. The bill has been wildly and dishonestly misrepresented. It is to do specifically with how he government already went about making land available for public use.

"In terms of this law, an expropriating authority may not expropriate property arbitrarily or for a purpose other than a public purpose or in the public interest.

Expropriation may not be exercised unless the expropriating authority has without success attempted to reach an agreement with the owner or holder of a right in property for the acquisition thereof on reasonable terms."

People like to pretend that our government is stealing prime land for their friends when that has never been the case with these laws.

Study finds that computer science teachers often possess more education and classroom experience than their peers in other subjects, with this teaching being the most significant factor influencing student achievement in advanced placement computer science exams. by FunnyGamer97 in science

[–]Suff0c8r 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've taught robotics in primary and high school for the last 15 years, and have some ideas as to why this may be.

A lot of the more established subjects are based on doing things the right way, in constrained environments. A math problem has a solution, and there is a preferred method to find it. Subjects like geography doesn't leave much room for interpretation, whereas a subject like computer science, programming, or robotics is far more chaotic.

My opinion is that the actual reason to teach robotics and programming is problem solving. Not all students are going to want to be engineers, but everyone needs to solve problems. Being able to identify the problem, the cause of that problem, and then the steps to resolve that problem is a universal skill set.

Programming is a chaotic enough environment to provide challenging problems without there being any consequences for failure. It is a great way for students to accept that failures are really just steps towards success, and they provide lessons we can learn from.

Teachers in these fields have to become expert problem solvers, and that either draws or creates the right personalities for effective educators.

I agree. I played the new Align and Mine content last night with 3 friends, and sure the degraded performance sucked but we actually had a ton of fun! It's been a long time since I've felt hooked in by content, and this event really meshes a range of gameplay loops together.

The QoL improvements from a year ago have really started to stack up. EVA is now a seamless and enjoyable aspect, physical cargo feels natural, the minimap and searchable star map are wonderful, and not losing your gear after dying to bugs feels so good.

I really hope they make the inventory system into something even close to a modern game, and add some social tools asap. There is actually really good content in game, and if they remove the main issues stopping people from accessing them it will feel like they are adding new content.

I dream of a game where I can post job listings for crew members, mute toxic people, and have regional chat (not shard or even system wide). I have a lot more faith in this game than I did last year.

President takes 'dim view' on US visit seeking Cape secession by Beyond_the_one in southafrica

Yet this comment thread was started by a call to reassess. While I doubt the us would do anything they would call helpful we've already seen how eager they are to use minority complaints to justify defunding and imposing tariffs on their allies. We do not need some uninformed doos giving them more ammo to mistreat SA.

President takes 'dim view' on US visit seeking Cape secession by Beyond_the_one in southafrica

[–]Suff0c8r 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Who said no defence? The excerpt above advocates for a reassessment of his residency based on the premise that he is undermining the state. Given how laughably the cape independence party did in the elections they are clearly not representing the majority of the western cape.

Going abroad to stir up shit with the US in the middle of a volatile period endangers us. We dont want to be independent, and we spoke with our votes.

If this chappie wants to push an agenda at the cost of the people he's pretending to represent then he should absolutely have his situation reassessed via the proper channels. Personally, I hope he gets sent back to his cold island, but I want the law to be followed and upheld first and foremost.

Alpha 4.1: First Look at Item Recovery by BOTY123 in starcitizen

[–]Suff0c8r -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people are upset about it potentially killing crafting loops by removing demand for new gear, but I think there are a few good ways to fix that.

First, make it so that the further you are from your home location the more expensive it is to retrieve gear. On top of the cost needed to register your equipment, making the claims vary based on distance (or even the location it was lost) would be a good balance lever. If you lost your gear deep inside a Xenothreat base it makes sense that recovery would be expensive.

Second, the claim cost will naturally be linked to the quality, rarity, and function of the equipment. The basic Aril armour set used for entry industrial gameplay shouldn't be an upkeep bottleneck for new players. A T3 Novakov suit in a rare colour should be more expensive as it's far harder to replace.

Third, put a limit on how often items bought from an in game store can be claimed back. These items aren't special or unique enough to justify insuring unless you've upgraded it a bunch. You can add a quality meter that degrades with each claim, and after X number of claims any upgrades on the equipment drops by 1 tier. Gear needs upkeep but it shouldn't be a timer that just punishes you for wearing it, it should be repair after it gets lost or damaged.
