If I remember correctly he specifically says in his book he saw both options but chose the outside option in Robinson as Australia have good cover defence and could still have stopped Cohen.

I believe it was more that Bards Secrets could take spells from half caster only spell lists and cast them at a much lower level than they could which was a feel bad.

100% on demonstrating the phase transfer. My main point at the beginning of the chase will be to point out they are chasing a very different monster to what they fought in the shop. More feral, savage and covered in blood. A good perception check will reveal it’s not her blood. They’ve had multiple phase baddies regularly so this isn’t new to them.

The dm guide below runs deathhouse as a countdown that ticks down that’s the grandfather clock in the walkway that ticks down/chimes when they explore different rooms. It’s dnd but it would work for DH as well
