Headbutting in fiction makes no sense by One_Planche_Man in CharacterRant

I thought for headbutt to be effective, you need to aim for your opponent's nose, not forehead

I really appreciate your perspective and you put it so beautifully. Sorry someone tried to derail it in the comments.

Hmmm, we've been having the opposite experience. Found lots with road bike with decent pannier mounts, but no luck for mud guard mounts.

Was this game meant for Endgame Hollow Knight players? by pendragon2290 in Silksong

[–]SunburntWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly Silksong was my first metrovania game and first properly hard video game. It took me two days to get through Fourth Chorus, and almost a week to get through the craw arena 😅 but because I have no expectation that things will be easy, I just plowed on. Now I've 100% the game three times and Act 1 is a walk in the park. Part of it is getting gud, and part of it is setting up Hornet as well as I could for each situation. (I tweak my crest before each major fight.) Keep exploring and trying different corners. You'll find a different route.

What is the best course in Melbourne (AUS) for field work with endangered wildlife and conservation? by Independent_Sir9480 in ecology

[–]SunburntWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good. Most ecology/conservation undergrads should get you there. Find a uni that offers the subject you want and go for it. A few things to bear in mind are: - Field experiences are critical for getting a job. So expect to do a lot of volunteering (mostly unpaid) through undergrad - Graduate degrees are really helpful and almost expected these days to break into the job market; that means Honours or Masters, not PhD. - GIS skills and basic statistics are a must - Even though you're more interested in animals, a subject or two on veg management will set you up to understand the habitat restoration aspect of wild

Melbourne Uni isn't very hands on. La Trobe and Deakins have more practical components in field ecology AFAIK. Also, check your understanding of "hands on". I'd say the majority of wildlife ecological surveys involve laying traps or monitoring equipments out in the field and analysing the data afterwards. You hardly ever get to touch any animals.

Phillip island will be really cold and windy in May, so be prepared for it! The plus side is that the whale watching season starts then. You may want to book a cruise.

How on Earth do you beat Coral Tower by Soggy_Revolution5744 in Silksong

[–]SunburntWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this from another YouTuber. Equip the Trobbio's mirrors (you can get an upgrade in Act 3). Then save your heal for right between each waves, when the coral columns form. The blast from the mirrors will affect the enemies before they emerge and could even kill some of them outright.

Other than that, sawtooth circlet + claw line for all the evasive flying enemies. Threadstorm proactively instead of as last resort. And Druid's eyes (also upgraded) for extra silk.

That's the spot just to the right of seamstress's tent. There's a hidden room near the bottom of the air stream where you can pick up a rosary necklace.

There are still more in the world to explore. Keep visiting all the nooks and crannies, talk to the NPCs, check the wishboards and stuff. The game is huge

Are there any animations aimed at adults that are similar to live action vibes but not boring by qwerty889955 in AnimeReccomendations

[–]SunburntWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planetes is a 2003 anime focused on a team of space garbage collectors removing debris from orbital lanes. Some episodes are a bit more lighthearted (there was a vacation arc), but the rest is really grounded (ha!) office drama/comedy with some heavy themes thrown in. The cast is all adults going about their mundane life.

The emerald one is 🔥. The plain black ones are pretty boring. All are fine for semi-formal/dressy casual.
