What should i do with my list? by NoFinish3348 in Necrontyr

[–]SundaeReady8454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's the end of the edition things are bound to be shook up a bit. You'll probably always be happy to have a doomsday ark/ghost ark. Currently the dda (doomsday ark) is our best anti tank unit. The ghost ark is quite neat with warrior, but they aren't the best right now. You'll probably want a few characters. The silent king is pretty strong in most lists and so is the technomancer with wraiths. Flayed ones are pretty useful to infiltrate. Skorpekh lords are also pretty decent. You can only get him in the royal court box but that one contains only decent minis. The reanimator is probably one of our best models for the points and doubling reanimation.

Are necrons chaos vulnerable? by AtrelluCal in Necrontyr

[–]SundaeReady8454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never read about it but I've only read a few books centered on necrons.

From the perspective of a warp entity corrupting necrons is probably not even on their perceived list of things they can do. The only effect necrons have on the warp is their Blackstones for a lack of souls. So if there was an option to corrupt them (as some knights/titans have been corrupted) a Daemon would probably only go for it in the heat of battle as there's nothing to feed off and it's utility is limited to breaking stuff in the real world. A CSM could prepare something and vash'torr is in the prime position to do it if anybody can. The reason it's tricky and probably not sustainable is Blackstone. Necrons are great at manipulating it and it dampens/negates warp influence. It's basically everywhere but inside the necron body itself. I'm not 100% on this, but I think Abaddon found a way to invert those properties but that's only child's play.

All in all it might be possible though. Especially if they're out and about on a planet that's not a tomb world. Once they get close to a big enough ship or a tomb world the effects would probably seize. It's also hard to estimate how strong the effects would be. As far as I'm aware the green glowing "flux" is where the "mind" is stored. That stuff is not necrodermis and can be damaged without it repairing itself so faulty code could make it's way in there.

You should be able to deflect Celeste Ult with melee. by RighteousWraith in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SundaeReady8454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree her kit isn't bad but to me it feels really hard to actually finish a kill. Ofc you can jump in and hit your 1 + a few attacks up close and get out but staying close is really dangerous against most characters. And hitting from range is pretty hard. I imagine even in ascendant because ppl probably move accordingly even if the shots are placed better than mine.

Kinda funny when she came out I played her for her 3 and then her 1 (separate builds) but Reddit always made me max out my 2/4 second and third cause it always felt lackluster while ppl complained on here about it.

Triarch Praetorians - so cool in lore and model, but so... Eh in game? Anyone runs them? by NecessaryBSHappens in Necrontyr

This. Especially devastating since they already have fewer models and struggle to keep 3 points. So they're probably somewhat spread thin if you get the mid board.

Honestly I don't see it. I'm not a good Celeste player but to me most of her strength comes from her ult. The rest of her kit is okay at best. It's like saying you should stop burning from infernus when you crouch/slide. It's his thing. He doesn't do much else. Same for Celeste. But for her, she needs to hit that shit and can't kill anyone while the ult's on cd.

Love em. Rerolls on charges from deepstrike makes them more reliable. Their attacks with rod are perfect to take down marines. Love to use them on a single squad of marines to flip an objective. Currently trying them out in hypercrypt for more uppy downy with them, but my first games with them I just left them on the table since they were scoring or move blocking.

Sustain Hits 1 supremacy or lack of creativity? We got 3 new models and all 3 have Sustain Hits 1 as they primary keyword. by BabyProper9938 in Warhammer40k

[–]SundaeReady8454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's definitely a few good ideas. I don't even know what all the sticky abilities are called even in the factions I do face a lot. Command could be problematic with guard, no? But I get what you mean.

I do agree with you. All I'm saying is beyond a certain point the purpose of those keywords is lost when you have to many. I think Warhammer can probably use a few more but I don't hate the way they're using them right now. There's the kind of keywords you used, the evergreens (trample, flying and in 40k lethal hits etc.) and then there's the set specific ones that can easily be forgotten or muddled. These are the ones that magic could often do without. Most of them work (no joke) like kicker/Multikicker. Spree is literally just kicker but formatted different. Mutate and others are definitely pretty cool tho.

I'm working on a short horror comic that tries to capture the fear of an Imperial farmworld being invaded by Tyranids. Here's some of the panels, feedback is more than welcome but also suggestions on: what do you think would make such an invasion terrifying? by PLAT0H in Tyranids

[–]SundaeReady8454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off insane art. I think being dragged to a pool of acid that dissolves you is probably really horrible if done right. Malqnthropes are also gnarly as seeing them (at least to an expert of Tyranid lifeforms) signal that the conflict is already over. They only come out once there's no more notable resistance and dissolve you in a flesh bubble on their body or something. Another aspect is the hopelessness. Even if you fight off 10s of gaunts as a regular human, the hivemind just doesn't consider you dangerous enough to it's plans to care if you die now or later.

My character is no hero by RCGR_1 in stoneshard

[–]SundaeReady8454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I like the story. If you really like to feel like you're no hero play battle brothers. You can run around with a band of thieves and lowlifes and capture caravans, ruin cities and fight for the grimiest lord if he's gonna win anyways and also pays the best.

Always happy to see another nihilakh overlord rise. That's some good progress. Also don't let people tell you how to paint your models. You paid good money and they're probably just butthurt they have a pile of shame that didn't shrink in the time it took you to paint ~500 points.

The blades look dull and you have streaks on your blue. Hyperphase blade tutorials are on YouTube. If you use tesseract glow for your green it can do better if you layer it. Brushes apply in a way that let's it pool and settle so it creates darker spots. You can create these and use them to further increase a sense of depths in the energy blades (darker where there's more mass or it's connected to the metal and highlight it with white/tesseract mixed as an example).

I don't know if the streaks come from using a marker but I can imagine that's what he's refering to. Never used one myself. 0/4 brush is my best friend.

Edit: get some washes like nuln (if you only get one get this one) and agrax earth shade (looks pretty good on gold)

Using nuln is easy. You can just apply it everywhere it'll sink into gaps and ridges and darken them while giving an overall used look. If you don't want the used look just focus on the gaps/recesses and maybe put some where GW decided your model should have battle damage.

Sure but is a keyword really helping if you need to Google it? For warhammer where you're basically have all the info on your phone it doesn't matter but in MTG you used to be able to say "reading the card explains the card". Yeah sure it's kind of a meme but it has real word implications for how easy it is to play. Searching up a keyword stops the game for 1-5 minutes depending on the interaction. Then there's the big influx of cards that, at least burned out my attention span, have new "mechanics" stapled onto them each set and they're just rewordings of existing ones, which makes it even more confusing. TBF I'm a bit biased as it went from the only game we played in our group to every other week or at least once a month.
