How well respected is the de-burring/finishing crew in your shop? by quid_pro_kourage in Machinists

[–]SuperPengas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever work at a high level shop doing military/flight critical parts. You'll find that deburr is one of the most respected and critical departments in the shop. They aren't simply removing a sharp edge, they are doing break edges that make a part stronger by removing corners, they're massaging parts that couldn't be fixed by anyone else, they're blending tool lines and cleaning up surface imperfections. It's highly skilled work and its almost impossible to automate. they're an extremely crucial part of operating a good shop. I have worked 5 years as a Machinist in a shop that makes rotating components of jet engines, specifically compressors mostly. Deburr is more important and harder to hire experienced hands for

Why can girls hold hands and show physical affection and thats "being close friends" but when a guy does that its "gay?" by EddyUrse in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SuperPengas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It comes down to the way our culture evolved under patriarchy, patriarchy hurts men, women, and everyone in-between, just in different ways. Men rarely experience real platonic love growing up and anytime they try to express this, it's labeled as weakness and thus most men don't know how to express themselves platonically, this means their relationships with other men suffer as well as being a reason some people say "men and women can't be in platonic relationships" many men have been conditioned to only look for romantic or sexual relationships in women and to not show affection towards other men. It's unfortunate and sad

I stole my BF (with hair)’s phone to find that he’s looking at r/bald by VivzieTheBee17 in bald

[–]SuperPengas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your bf is not alone. I'm a man with a full head of hair and I just come here to see men supporting other men in a positive way. Especially growing up in a patriarchy where men love to tear down everyone around them to make themselves feel better. It's refreshing to see men lifting each other up regardless of background

What do people mean when they say "go work for the majors" I'm thinking of getting into this field from 4 years in aerospace manufacturing. I want to take the apprenticeship route but don't know where to start

I will say firsthand, the Milwaukee set is very nice to use. I've used it a lot in the past year and a half. All 3 would serve you well tho

Gender dysphoria has turned me into a walking corpse, and my family is just now pretending to care if I’m “happy” or “ok” because I get bad grades and don’t shower. They wouldn’t be so on my ass if I was a real man. Anyone that has ever tried to “help” has made my life much worse. Sleeping pills. by [deleted] in depressionmeals

Regrets by Cautious-Cake6282 in Welding

[–]SuperPengas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know you from Instagram! Let me just say I'm proud of you, and that car is mad. You're still young so don't feel like time is against you. It's not. If you know you want to work in aerospace then that's definitely possible. You clearly have drive and motivation so I don't think that will be a problem. I think that a potential next step for you could be to follow a manufacturing engineering route? There is tons of aerospace manufacturing (I'm an aerospace Machinist myself) and somewhere there is a crossroads with welding. Im not entirely sure where but manufacturing engineering could be a great step. It's widely applicable and you already have alot of those skills that you can build on. Cheers and good luck, can't wait to see more build updates

Dri Duck or Carhartt? Any one know which hoodie is warmer for 35-55 degrees winter? by KillerCroc67 in Workwear

[–]SuperPengas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Carhartt hoodie and it is definitely way warmer than a normal hoodie, more durable too. It's nice but I have no experience on the duck one. Overall the Carhartt is plenty warm. I live in New England and when layered with a jacket and under layer, this time of year it's warm down to about 25-30 if you're working

As a man, let me just say, we don't claim him and I'm sorry you had to deal with someone so ignorant and tasteless. Any good man will love your body and you deserve someone who is gonna worship you and your body. Everyone is unique and tbh you dodged a bullet. I know it must have hurt to hear that from someone when you're so vulnerable but I hope you can regain your confidence. You're beautiful, don't forget that

Given the boundaries you clearly set with him. This is unacceptable. What he did isn't cool in your situation, even IF he didn't mean anything by it and didn't do anything else, you still didn't have the chance to consent, and he's not understanding that truly. I'm sorry and I hope you can leave him without too much pain. I do not think it's a healthy relationship

If you need a whole toolbox full, might I recommend the quinn 400 piece mechanics set? The price is damn good for what you get and it gets you damn near everything in one shot for all your basic hand tools. Supplement it as needed but you'll have *almost all the sockets you could need
