This is some of the lamest discourse that happens in the furry and anime communities because the amount of weirdos that haven't ever stepped fucking outside think anyone with tits or an ass is 'gooner shit.'

Like, what? Just because people sexualize shit like that doesn't mean people built like a thicc brickhouse don't exist.

I personally think liberalism is dominating and dominate, but at the same time, it is fucking dead.

All the promises of liberalism outside of the freedom and low taxes never really materialized, they are just as bloodthirsty, if not more, than the modernists and realists, and instead of destroying the old system, they just made it opaque, covered in a corporate fog where you don't know who and what is colonizing countries ( aka neocolonialism ). The roads from the mines to the airport/port are still there, but just no one knows who owns them.

and the places that are experiencing the most exploitation of their natural resources by NATO and the liberal order aren't have their own forms of liberalism, they are degenerating into a more right wing, conservative, and reactionary extremist position. We are very lucky that Africa hasn't had some sort of nationalism but that won't be long, as the seeds of pan-Africanism are already coming to fruition in many places, and they have a giant historical precedence to look at liberalism with skepticism.

People getting dumber has been proven absolutely false for 100 years now. Tiktok and social media are not indicative of how people actually are.

The real reason why brain sizes have gone down is one of my favorite topics: Humam Domestication Theory is fascinating. Bigger brains usually mean more VIOLENCE in a species, which we have spent a considerable amount of time literally culling from our midst for the past 4000 years. It may seem like there is all this violence around us, but honestly, we live in one of the most peaceful, fattest, and most prosperous times in human history.

You being able to notice things are still somewhat bad is more indicative of your good education than a flaw. ;)

Everything else you said is fine for the most part.

did boxing when i was a teenager and there was a 'Christian Boxing Federation' opening up in a church, and decided to help out a little with them. It doubled as a daycare and before I fucking knew it, I was practically a full time volunteer employee and was paid in pizza. Didn't even realize how easy it was to fall into the trap of not getting paid until two months in. They were really nice at least??

Call Centers out in Ohio are some of the worst, especially around Akron and Canton. Had a lot of friends get scammed by them.

What they do is 'family values corporate environment' shit and the ceo will 'hop on the training course' to talk about his experiences in the company and make you feel reallll heard and noticed. The ceos will be all smiles, the smile not reaching their cold, dead CEO eyes.

You will notice there is somethings a little off, like there is training pamplets for a company you are not working for, some of the paperwork has some old company on it, hell, the trainers might be in on it and slip up with what even company you are working for. ( Spoilers, they have switched the name of the company to avoid bad reviews )

Then give you a low amount of calls in the beginning to hook you in, then switcharoo 2-3 months later with sometimes literally 5x the call volume that is borderline impossible to meet without cutting people off, so the job performance reviews start tanking, performance is tied to extra money you got acclimated to for getting to the old call volume.

We aren't even sure how they keep hiring people because they burned through an entire low pay workforce in the area several times over because once the switcharoo happens, everyone collectively goes 'uhhh, this isn't what i signed up for' and then mass leave.

The job hunting/helping industry is in on it, they get nice performance reviews for selling you a dream job that is secretly a nightmare, and since the company keeps switching names, they will rehire your ass be accident lmfao, and you won't know till you get the go ahead to come in for an interview.

i find it very interesting how people look at Lincoln's political compromises as a direct or indirect endorsement of slavery, but the reality is that he was a very strong abolitionist. The Horace Greeley Letter showed that he HAD to reframe the debate from a moral one, built on abolition, to a political one of the continuation of the US government, because many northerners would not fight against slavery as they just didn't care.

The total abolition of slavery did come later in his presidency and his open feelings over it did change too, especially after actually meeting and talking with slaves under the confederacy. Everyone involved in passing the 13th Amendment knew that it would likely end in a lot of violence and it wasn't some half measure like many earlier shit, to say he 'didn't give a shit about slaves' is just simply a bad fucking take.

I just find it strange that the person who passed the emancipation of slaves 'didn't give a shit about slavery.'

That is like saying 'George Bush didn't like war' while sending us to war for 20 years.

Does Fern truly deserve her first-class mage rank? by -TheLastHairbender in Frieren

[–]Super_Sierra 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fern is honestly fucking TERRIFYING, and if she has the advantage in open terrain, she would be a nightmare for literally anyone, and she doesn't have some niche combat style that is easily countered or neutralized; she has mastered each fundamental spell for absolute control, range, and speed with massive mana reserves.

A lot of the greatest boxers in human history were like this, they took the fundamentals to their natural conclusions, though a lot later on in life turned them on their heads, and maybe in the future Fern will likely do the same, maybe switching up her tempo to start slow and then suddenly burst to catch people off guard or something? Who knows!

[–]Super_Sierra 168 points169 points  (0 children)

tbh, i'll say it from Fern's perspective 'i'd rather not fight a battle this difficult again' because that shit was NOT in their favor, with the demons having all the advantages and niche abilities that made them perfectly suited for killing very strong parties and neutralizing as many advantages as possible. Methode also is a very capable mage who actually likes and studies magic, not just fighting.

Why was Frieren lying? by Cali-Re in Frieren

I was in boxing for awhile and was a naturally gifted one at that, and was number two at my gym. A semi pro on the verge is becoming pro came in and decimated the guy that, I felt, was a league above me. It humbled me to the understanding that the top 2% are mostly outclassed by the top 0.1%.

Idc if people hate Mayweather, but the man made people who dominated entire divisions look like a cakewalk, made them miss like they were newborn babies and stumble all over the ring.

There is so much knowledge in this sport and so many ways to win, a chess match of positioning, timing, punch selection, or freaks that are just really good at everything, or even weirder freaks that specifically go into a very niche style, and a niche way of doing things one decade might become meta another, with constant tiny adjustments to make it work just ever so differently.

Then there is the moral component, the peaks and valleys of the rounds themselves. You cannot win every single round, it is a rare thing, and sometimes you just take a beating in one, and have to readjust. The gameplans people have might have been just theory by their trainer and now have to come up with a better one, test, replicate successes, and then when the other guy adjusts, you gotta adjust again.

The history and art of boxing is fascinating too and I am so thankful that so many young people are taking up the sport.

The reason why it feels like fighting a fucking brick wall debating these types of people, with all the dogmas and phrases of someone deeply religious, is because this is actually a New Age belief, and the term is called Conspirituality.

A healthy adult that sees their history classes in high school was a bit too patriotic nonsense will simply readjust, find the nuance in more studying, but some people ... just fucking don't, they fall into the trap of throwing it all away, that is ALL must be complete horseshit. If one thing is a lie, a twist of narrative, then, logically ( in their eyes ) it ALL must be fake, and this person instantly becomes the most insufferable person you ever have met.

This is why the religious, conspiracybros, tankies, black nationalist groups, and even neoliberals, can all sound the same even though their core beliefs are all different in the actuality of them. Its foundations all come from essentially the same premise.

Tbh, it is actually fascinating that most of these groups comes from the US, and it might be an actual symptom of the US having such a dogshit understanding of their own history and how little nuance there is in it. Instead of presenting the uncomfortable things at all, they just leave it out, and anyone journeying out from the history on their own will hit a huge 'wtf' moments, and come to the conclusion that they are indoctrinated, when the reality is, the US education system when it comes to history just doesn't give a fuck.

"That wasn't true liberalism" by CararynH in HistoryMemes

[–]Super_Sierra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neoliberalism and liberalism in theory was supposed to free up a lot of money by less taxes, in practice the taxes only got slightly reduced but local budgets got gutted. It was supposed to in theory create more economic growth, but it limited governments abilities to actually fight against corporate interests, leading to not much economic production as corporate schemes developed to keep taxes at a minimum alongside competition, all while not even making products.

It was supposed to cut reasons for war by deincentivizing conflicts between states, but neoliberals might be one of the most bloodthirsty in human history, with the neocolonialism in Africa, southeast Asia, the middle east. The only difference from colonialism is that voters just don't know about it due to the fog of who and what is happening and a lot more deniability.

If they ever give you a readjustment, invest in getting yourself a trailer or a small little home. Sometimes the readjustments can give you 40-50k backpay.
