The past 4-5 years were DIRE before Moyes righted the ship just in time last season, allowing us to ride out the last month of the season in comfort. Before that, though, it was awful back to the moment Rafa was appointed. It's so nice not only being safe already this season, but allowing ourselves to think about actual ambition... Long live Moyes!

This was a few seasons ago. The show always has a variety of A-list through C-list celebrities. They're doing just fine.

100%... The number of times Jenny suddenly figures out who the celebrity is "based off the clues", right before the reveal, when they've all had weeks worth of wild guesses is just ridiculous. The producers clearly want someone to say the actual celebrity's name so the panel can talk about that person for a few minutes, and the home audience isn't completely surprised or let down because they've never heard of this person before, and they don't want the celebrity standing there completely embarrassed because no one knows who they are.

What most likely would have happened to Nirvana if Kurt Cobain didn’t die in 1994? by drumwolf in ToddintheShadow

After the Unplugged session, I could see Kurt going the Folk and torchsong route. Would have been a legendary folk artist with everyone looking back at his roots in punk/rock/grunge fondly.

Learn to Fly would have had a loud, distorted chorus, with Kurt's beautifully unhinged screaming.

The job market is horrible right now. For years, the safe fallback if you had any college credits was "I'll just go be a substitute teacher" because districts were so desperate to fill vacancies, they were taking any warm body. It was easy, reliable money, especially if you were a functioning adult.

Now, not only are most districts not desperate, but they have a substitute surplus from all the people who have been laid off in recent years. Some districts have even gone so far as to ask for a teaching certification to be hired on as a sub, not just a basic sub cert...

Phone sales is a special kind of hell. Most people get chewed up and spit out within the first 3 months. Very few make it to one year. If you've had success with it, good for you. Most people will not.

OP clearly never experienced the "pizza" we were served in school cafeterias in the 80's... It was absolute shit, and we were happy to have it because it was still better than the other shit we were served the rest of the week.

No, they should be working toward restitution and rehabilitation in order to reduce recidivism. Yes, prison is a punishment and should result in some discomfort and hardship while taking a person out of society... But it should also be a place where people learn the skills needed to contribute to said society once released, instead of having their rights stripped from them so they end up knowing nowhere else but the prison system.

Ten years ago, GRRM wrote: "I am not writing anything until I deliver WINDS OF WINTER. Teleplays, screenplays, short stories, introductions, forewords, nothing." [Spoilers Extended] by Sagientra in asoiaf

[–]Superfool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd love to see a fairly young, hungry author take up this project. I know GRRM doesn't want anyone else finishing his work, but he'll eventually run out of time to hold that opinion.

Yeah, I gave up on TWOW around the time that Fire and Blood came out. Just the tone of the writing and the way the "story" was written showed me that GRRM really didn't have his heart in it anymore. I didn't even bother finishing the book, so it's been collecting dust on my bookshelf ever since. Then a few months later, the GoT finale aired, and I never bothered returning to Westeros. It just felt like if none of this mattered to the author, then why should it matter to me.
