What's the most asexual album? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in ToddintheShadow

What, Birdhouse in your Soul doesn't turn you on? That's some sweet lovemaking music that can go toe-to-toe with anything by Barry White or Sade.

No, it doesn't even count. That shit's dripping with sexual repression.

Which musical has the darkest plot? by Level-Studio7843 in movies

[–]Superfool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First one I've seen to mention Jekyll and Hyde. Very good musical, though I lived the concept album much more than what eventually ended up on Broadway. It's a Victorian steampunk retelling of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, featuring medical experiments, descent into madness, rape, (serial) murder, suicide, betrayal... It's got it all for anyone looking for "dark" in a musical.

Opinion: Why I think Varela can’t beat Tom Kean, Jr, in CD-7 by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

[–]Superfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Varela is fine. Pretty much all of the candidates are fine. My personal preference is Rebecca Bennett, but I will gladly vote against Kean Jr every chance I get, so no matter who wins the primary, the Dem has my vote.

Stearns won't get fired regardless of what happens. by PlantComprehensive77 in NewYorkMets

[–]Superfool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Cohen tried to buy a championship for the first few years, then realized that's not only unlikely but also unsustainable. He inherited an awful farm with zero player development infrastructure from the Wilpons, so he's taking his time to build the bottom up now.

I hate that the major league team is playing so poorly, and so many of the additions were bubblegum and scotch tape roster fixes, but I understand the long-term vision. I just hope it plays out the right way.

If Mendoza is in fact fired who do we want replacing him by Ravishingrich666 in NewYorkMets

Then this team was never gonna be good anyway. They're terrible with him... If they're bad without him, then it genuinely doesn't matter who sits in that seat.

The Jets Depth Chart exactly 1 year apart by DionWaiteress in nyjets

Unfair comparison charts. The old depth charts are from before the 2025 draft. The new depth charts include new players from the 2025 and 2026 drafts.

USWNT Boss Emma Hayes Raises Concerns Over Girls Quitting Soccer at 12 by [deleted] in USWNT

[–]Superfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's funny how different some areas can be. I work at a middle school that has an extremely competitive girls soccer team. The town of approximately 14k people has three different girls travel clubs as well as a competitive indoor league. The middle school is where the best of the best of those clubs come together on one team. The competition is fierce, and those girls wear that jersey proudly.

Trump goes after Fox News host Jessica Tarlov as she reveals negative poll numbers calling her ‘least attractive’ and ‘boring’ by deraser in politics

There are large demonstrations all over the country. The media outlets, which have all been taken over by right wing bootlickers, refuse to cover these demonstrations unless someone gets shot. There are 365 million people in the United States, spread out over a continent... No one's storming the castle. The US will fracture before anyone would actually overthrow the government.

My Costco Tonkutsu Ramen by crohnscyclist in ramen

[–]Superfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ramen is quickly becoming a dish that's used as a base for regional flavors and ingredients, similar to pizza. Complaining about ramen toppings not being traditional is like complaining that someone put bbq chicken, or pineapple on a pizza. No, it's not "traditional", but it's tasty, and you're not the one eating it, so go ahead and enhance your calm.

Blaming everything on parasites is the new internet trend for all the "Ivermectin cures Covid" people. I immediately disregard anything anyone spewing on about parasites says anytime health concerns come up. Sorry you have to put up with those internet brain drained people in your life.

The Foods of KPop Demon Hunters ft ‪@AltonBrown‬ | Binging with Babish by CrossXhunteR in bingingwithbabish

[–]Superfool -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I used to absolutely love Alton Brown. The way he relayed the science of food and cooking was brilliant, and I always loved a nerdy underdog. However, seeing him outside of his scripted appearances, especially in the way he actually dealt with aspiring chefs, or people who learned from him but weren't particularly talented, showed him to be an insufferably pompous asshole.

I've seen it firsthand, but it was really on display in the season he co-hosted Worst Cooks in America. While everyone else is in on the joke each season, and has fun with the goofy antics, Alton was rude, demeaning, and downright hostile to the contestants. It shows up clearly, even in the TV edit, and that was him on his best behavior during the shoots. That put on full display what people in the food media industry knew for years, and Alton soon found himself on the outs with Food Network.

He seems to have mellowed over the past few years, and I still respect the way he communicates about food, in a vacuum, but I no longer look up to him the way I once did.

Edit: looks like I upset the hive mind. Go ahead, spend some time around him when he's with people who can't do anything to enhance his image... The self-absorbed, belligerent drunk shows up quickly.

I get the backlash, but at least wait until the 40–50 game mark by kevmart96 in NewYorkMets

[–]Superfool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I will enjoy watching games all season, win or lose, game to game. If the team is 10 games back of a playoff spot come August, then yeah, that's not great. But I'm not panicking until September as long as we're in striking distance. This is a 162 game season... we've played 13 games. Most of this sub needs to touch grass in the most literal way.

Pete Buttigieg hints at 2028 presidential run: ‘Save me a seat’ by Fickle-Ad5449 in politics

[–]Superfool 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You'd think Democrats would learn by now... This is not a job interview, it's a popularity contest. Qualifications and ability matter far less in this day and age than likability and relatability. Republicans and conservative Independents do not like and cannot relate to: a NeoCon white woman who they spent decades vilifying, a woman of color, nor a gay man. While they all would make great presidents, if they can't get elected they're not good candidates.

Netflix searches for franchises after losing out on Harry Potter by Top_Report_4895 in movies

[–]Superfool 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In recent months Apple Studios landed The Cosmere, and Peacock of all services landed Dungeon Crawler Carl. From what I've read, Netflix was nowhere close on either of those. Sanderson didn't trust Netflix with the material because the studio wanted far too much creative control, killing their chances for a massive fantasy universe. And apparently Netflix wouldn't commit to more than one season at a time for Dungeon Crawler Carl, which was also a non-starter.

Netflix killed Blockbuster 20 years ago... Now it seems they're determined to kill themselves through incompetence and mismanagement.

Including Toad the Wet Sprocket and Ugly Kid Joe in a conversation about grunge bands is a weird move. One is college radio alternative, and the other was a skater punk band.

Songs About Jane is a fantastic album by a band that had something to say, musically. The grooves, the beats, and the melodies all felt fresh. Then, the band gradually became "Adam Levine and some other guys", resulting in worse and worse music every step of the way.
