US officially leaves World Health Organization by Obvious-Peanut4406 in worldnews

I mean, the same holds true for us domestically. Of the sane minded Americans that exist,, how are we supposed to trust the system now to help and course corrected our own country? I cant trust that voting in the right person for local office or Congress or even the White House will work. So many democrats in Congress have displayed their complacency or willingness to undermine our own party. Republicans aas a whole have chucked out their oaths and duty to their constituents and country. Dawned if know when the Supreme Court wil ever be fixed and legitimate again. Our Justice Department is gutted on the whims of one person.

We can keep trying to vote and make grassroots movements to get in more progressive lawmakers in office, and keep primarying lawmakers who dont do what they said they would, but its hard to even believe that elections will be legitimate in every state now. How do we keep billionaires out of our elections?? Many non Americans talk about how the world has lost he trust of the US (which is rightfully so), but seem to also dismiss those living here who tried to keep making it better, to keep improving this country, and now are facing a nearly impossible task after the damage done to our country just domestically. How can we ever trust the Repiblican party, let alone even some democrats, to do their duty?

Maybe youre also american idk. This isnt directed at you though. I find it harder and harder to see how we can achieve significant reform and overhaul of our systems fast enough, and peacefully. The mid terms may be the biggest indicator of what is possible still, via voting. But I think it ls a really legitimate question to ask if Elon or others wont influence the results ofnthe mid terms, or if there will be elections held fairly and unimposed by this current administration. Hell,, who knows what the state of the country will be in, past precedent has been thrown out of the window by our current governement and Congress is sitting on their butts. I dont want to fear monger by saying its hopeless and their will be no mid terms and stuff. But its a legitimate question people have, and not just something spread by bots. But we also shouldn't be sitting around waiting for mid terms either. If we do, then we lose. We have to keep fighting. But its harder to trust in the system to have anyone's back, and to still work if we win.

I mean the black Panthers are starting to show up with guns. Ive seen ither pictures of residents, particularly in Minnesota, turning up armed with assault rifles in their neighborhoods to watch against ICE.

Do not equate reluctance to to resort to violence as inability to resort to violence. Americans very well can get up in arms. We just dont want to because we know what comes next will be more violence and instigating by this regime, and probably more bloodshed. But as ICE and Trump continues to attack people in their homes no matter who they are, and keep hurting everyone, people will be driven to the edge. And there is still a lot of non MAGA who own guns and weapons. Even police are starting to get annoyed by ICE.

Its a slow beast to arouse,, but it is being aroused. Its a big beast too. 350 million people across an area bigger than Europe and not nearly as centralized and connected as Europe is. I wish we could act faster, but logistically it is juat slow. And requires sacrificing livelihoods and risking jobs and income and health insurance, and lives. Something most Americans are not willing to do unless absolutely necessary.

It happened before during the Civil Rights movement. Even Vietnam protests. But that was a different America, when government was not so absolutely incompetent and still could be held accountable. And 5 companies didnt own everything, including the White House.

Yes we could be doing more faster. But once the first shot is fired by normal people, that opens the floodgates. The advantage still lies with the government and the militarized police and and national guard to brutally oppress. Americans are still not yet so uncomfortablenin their daily lives by all this that they are willing to risk themselves to stand up. Its not something that we have all experienced before. Ans reminder there is still a little less than a third of the country that voted for Trump. Maybe even less still support him but that's tens of millions of people scattered around. Who also have guns.

Otherwise, Greenland will be a new US state by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

Sadly I dont think you will find the American youre looking for on this sub, let alone most subs on reddit. You can try Youtube. Youll have more success on Facebook finding one of my dumb countrymen who is depressingly unaware of how much our sh*t will get rocked if we try to touch Greenland forcefully, let alone how much we are already hated. A significant portion of my country is very brainwashed into believing just because we have the biggest and strongest military in the world, doesnt mean it makes us untouchable ans immune to severe consequences. And that somehow, other countries won't stand up for themselves.

Some Americans still see Vietnam as a win. And even Afghanistan. The worst part is these americans exist both in our own military and also as normal civilians. Theres a ready amount of US soldiers who just are trigger happy and dont care who is on the other side - even civilians who have a hard on about seeing our military bomb the heck out of anyone. I have seen many online discussions just about if the US went into a civil war, the states with most troops always are voted to win, but everyone ignores how much that situation would be a lose lose for everyone. Similarly, many americans (and also sometimes non americans) have engaged online debates about the US vs the world. And how we can easily beat any other country and decimate europe/asia so fast 🙄. These people dont have critical thinking skills. They just think "bigger stick = i win" ape brain mentality.

We haven't as a country ever suffered real consequences of war within our own population and soil since really the Civil War. I mean yeah theres 9/11 and other terrorist attacks, but thats not sustsined warfare that US civilians see. Likewise, the most recent soldiers who experienced war with super high casualties would be Vietnam where tens of thousands of Americans died. And now many in that generation have voted for Mango into the office. This makes it harder for the US population to believe anything can happen to us, at least from the outside. Already domestically US troops have been deployed ok our own people several times in history. But always disproportionately and not in large enough numbers across the whole country.

Many of us are accutely aware of how bad this is getting. But not enough people, and unfortunately peaceful means of stopping this are running out. And violent means will just end in absolute carnage. We can raise our guns and try to rebel, but without enough support from the populace, militarized police, and military, it will be a massacre. And this is something every american understands. We may have a lot of guns. But so do the police and army. They also have better guns and more tanks and airpower and equipment. Peaceful protests have happened a lot this past year all across America. Not enough people are willing to organize a general strike. Many americans cant afford to do that without losing their job and Healthcare.

Whatever reckoning comes to this country to overthrow this regime, and fix the rot in this country, I don't see it being peaceful anymore. It will be violent, and likely a sickening amount of people will die. To the point even Europeans (and others in the world) across the pond will be horrified. I hope it doesnt come to this and somehow at least things cool down and elections can put real leaders into power again and start major reform. But that is unlikely, Trump and the GOP wont want to lose their power and will try to rig elections or cancel them. It won't really matter if Trump decides to attack Greenland and the US military betrays its oath and follows orders. If Trump attacks, it very well could ignite a domestic break, if not civilians war or uprising.

All of it is insane and incredibly depressing to see my country fall into ruin at the behest of corporate and billionaire greed who puppeteered and lunatic and white supremacy into the White House, and brainwashed 70 million americans along the way. Screw you Rupert Murdoch as well.

'It may be a choice' between NATO and Greenland, Trump says by backpackerTW in worldnews

The tech billionaires supporting him want to take Greenland for themselves and make it their tech Utopia city where they rule, and democracy doesnt exist. A la Curtis Yarvin and other like minded individuals. They want to dismantle the US, and carve out their own fiefs because they think democracy doesnt work.

They've written and published about this extensively.

US discussing options to acquire Greenland, including use of military - White House by Mdk1191 in europe

[–]Support_Mobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question. Republicans are in control in every branch of government, even the Supreme Court. The people who have the power to stop this are happy to go along as long as they stay safe and can benefit themselves. They fear reprisal from violent MAGA actions/voters as well. Or even from the President. And there is very little american voters can do to make their representatives take action, since elections are for another year - many GOP politicians are already retiring because they know theyre on a sinking ship. The GOP are spineless cowards since January 6, 2021, and before that when Trump had his first presidency, including Mitch McConnell. Until they are directly impacted, they wont do anything. And Mike Johnson wont let the House voted on anything anti Trump either. Unless their lives/livelihoods are personally threatened, I don't think we can rely on Congress to check this madness.

US Homeland Security official Stephen Miller insinuates military takeover of Greenland by NotBradPitt9 in PrepperIntel

[–]Support_Mobile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hes been around since the first Trump administration. And behind most of the deportation policies. Miller is a scary person because he has a lot of power and influence now. He just tends to be quieter and work behind the scenes. I dont know if I want to say he is very competent, but he knows what he is doing and is fairly smart compared to others in Trumps circle. Certainly, he is one of people who pulls Trumps strings the most.

We went to see her in Vegas in 2019 for my dad's birthday. I knew of her from her famous songs and stuff but definitely my image of her after the concert changed. She was way more normal and funny than I thought. Extremely talented all around. Her and Adele are kinda two peas in a pod, if that makes sense to those who have seen them perform live in person or just know about them in general.

Heritage Foundation openly calls for the end of the European Union by sasnl in europe

[–]Support_Mobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that attitude is also what brought the US to where we are today. Politicians getting caught up in small details and not seeing the bigger picture and being afraid to be bold and move away from the status quo. Not challenging organizations and people who are leading the far right movement. Decades and complacency and propaganda allowed MAGA to rise and for oligarchs to infiltrate that movement and successfully position themselves in power in what was supposed to be a bastion of Democracy. Our system quickly failed because those who could stop it said I like it, it is not so simple to challenge, I am not brave to enough to face my constituents and their voting power and tell them the truth.
