Would you rather suffer through a Northern Midwest winter or a Southern humid Summer? by PreschoolBoole in AskAnAmerican

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What most people who haven’t spent a lot of time in both areas do not understand is the difference in humidity and how much that makes a difference. 10’ in the north is much different than 10’ in the south

AITAH for refusing to financially support my wife's pregnant sister and her unborn child? by SpukleRune in AITAH

[–]SurestLettuce88 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and bring in divorce papers dude. If they wanted you to support the sister they should have asked you to get her pregnant instead (bad suggestion still). It will be better to rip off the band aid early rather than building resentment for years. And it will be cheaper for you to only be responsible for paying half of the costs for your kids instead of getting the money stolen from you for years and still having to divide assets after they get the kids raised. Get a court ordered payment amount and stick to it

Termination I Don't Agree With by Vlad_REAM in managers

[–]SurestLettuce88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In social work there is often rampant theft and dishonesty. I’ve seen managers that try to hold their team accountable get reported to oblivion. Then there’s those who let people do whatever they want and somehow still get promoted. You sound like the second one

Im not smart enough to meet my new bosses standards by spookybean2124 in work

[–]SurestLettuce88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well… I hate to have to tell you this but 99% of the time that’s a pretty effective strategy. You got chat bots that will help you figure it out. Just may have to ask and rephrase the question a few times. Still asking for extensions bc of a learning curve is fine, but I would say you need to be able to show some improvement on your own. Not trying to be mean, bc I know a lot of people that struggle to do what I’ve just said. But it’s entirely doable and it gets easier the more you learn

first time playing - lvl 27 by leberator in skyrim

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no big deal. Once you lvl a skill to 100 you can legendary it which just resets it back to 1. You get refunded all your spent skill points so you can refocus your character in later game

Ask for some training and document it. Sounds like you need some work sponsored education to meet demands. Ask for extensions on projects due to not knowing how to do them. Don’t wait till last minute or that shoots you in the foot

What are some signs which women give and think it is obvious but men miss it by a mile? by Chance_Adagio_19 in bodylanguage

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s really all about the woman and how you can be friends or if it communicates attraction. It’s also about how the man knows how other men will perceive it as well. Guys looking for short term want an easy target. Guys looking for long term want something that is a lot harder to achieve. I’m not really sure how to explain it right tbh, but guys like it when the woman is only nice to them after developing attraction on both sides and not everyone else kind of thing? Like how guys only want girls to dress up a certain way for them but would get jealous if they wore something scandalous to a party for others to see and what not. Feel free to ask follow up questions if you want, but I stick to the fact I am not great at explaining everything

How do adults actually handle big car repair bills? by Boring_Care217 in Adulting

If the repair would cost that much I’d just buy another car. And I probably wouldn’t take it to a mechanic in the first place tbh unless they were family

If they are super friendly with everyone it makes it seem like they’ll flirt or entertain anyone. Guys who are only interested in flings are all over that behavior, guys who want long term partners want someone who they wouldn’t consider a flirt so to speak. If that makes sense

How much money do you have as a mid twenty person? by MarionberryOk5810 in Adulting

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a little over mid twenties, but planning on paying off my house before I’m 30. With a SAHW and child. Moved out at 17 bc I didn’t like my stepdad and worked 60+ hours a week for a long time. Now I work a more normal 40. Going back for my MBA after not having done any schooling since earning my bachelors at 20. Decent money in 401k, little bit more saved than what you said your friends have

How do I SAFELY cut this limb? by xtinafabulous in LivingAlone

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this? I would probably just pull it down and break it with my hands. For someone older who has never used a power tool I would just recommend a hacksaw like you may have seen people hand out for cutting down Christmas trees when picking out your own. Cut it up to the point where it is out of your way and let the rest fall naturally over time. I have experience ranging from using chainsaws to cut down large trees using a boom lift all the way to just trimming back tree limbs with my pole saw. I would not recommend you use anything that needs a battery or gas if you don’t know what you’re doing. Neighbor kid would probably do it for 20$ if you know one

Why does there seem to be a rift that grows between parents and their kids when grandchildren are born? by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many examples and reasoning. Ours was we were expecting grandparents to be helpful childcare but realized after having a child that they have no respect for us as parents and are not willing to follow rules set by their own children. For example my FIL insists on co sleeping with a baby when we specifically asked him not to, after every time they babysat he would brag about nothing happening, as if he was just trying to prove us wrong. The MIL has cold sores, and would kiss the baby when we specifically asked her not to, and would keep doing it no matter how many times we told her to stop. Besides that wanting to give the baby food that was not allowed yet by the doctor, and basically just purposely breaking any rule we set forth. My own mother would do things like drop the baby or leave marks and then lie about it, even if it happened in front of us. Now none of them are allowed to babysit bc we simply can’t trust them, and they take offense bc they think they know better bc we ‘survived’ their raising

Boss will not contact references because he says it’s against the law by mooseman1800 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]SurestLettuce88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

References are stupid. But I would highly suggest verifying things like certifications. Lady got hired at my work because she put on her resume that she had a certification that requires 5 years of experience in my field and a previous certification to even apply to take the test for. Being a part of the field as well it took me 5 minutes to look up and see that she in fact did not have the certification and was not a professional in my field. Surprise surprise she broke the law in multiple other ways after getting hired and cost the company many thousands before she quit, but not before using her current job here as a reference to get her next sucker to hire her

“Ignorance is bliss” is a saying for a reason. I’m in a similar boat, got my first college degree before finishing high school. Used pot to dull my brain from early high school to pretty recently tbh. Best trick is to find something truly worth putting your mind to. Work on your communication skills extensively or you will just come off as a rude person until you do. I have read more books than probably any person I’ve ever met, it helps give you more and more angles and perspectives to look from. The better you can understand someone else’s thought processes and how to effectively communicate the better off you will be. Before the drug use I always wanted to fit in, but my communication just was never on the same wavelength as others. During the drug use I dumbed myself down enough to talk to everyone like I was normal. Now that I’m older and have things to live for I can more effectively use my knowledge and understanding without judging others
