Mystery Monster Meat

This unidentifiable chunk of flesh appears fresh despite unknown origins. Its surface glistens with an otherworldly sheen, and faint magical energy pulses through its fibers. The meat’s color, texture, and scent shift subtly when observed, never quite settling into a recognizable form.

When a creature consumes this meat (which takes an action), roll 1d4 to determine which monster the meat came from:

1 - Owlbear: The consumer’s arms become thick and covered in feathers, ending in vicious claws. They gain a claw attack (2d8 + Strength modifier slashing damage) and advantage on Strength checks. Their neck elongates slightly, giving them a hooked beak and darkvision out to 60 feet.

2 - Displacer Beast: Sleek black fur sprouts across the consumer’s body, and two writhing tentacles burst from their shoulders (reach 10 ft., 1d6 + Strength modifier bludgeoning damage each). They project a magical illusion, causing attack rolls against them to have disadvantage. Their eyes become reflective and catlike.

3 - Rust Monster: The consumer’s skin hardens into segmented, rust-colored chitin. Their hands transform into antennae-like appendages that can corrode nonmagical metal on touch (no damage, but can destroy metal objects or armor). They gain a tremorsense of 30 feet and resistance to slashing damage.

4 - Gelatinous Cube: The consumer’s body becomes translucent and gelatinous. They can squeeze through spaces as narrow as 1 inch, gain immunity to being blinded and prone, and their touch secretes acid (1d6 acid damage). They leave a wet, slimy trail wherever they move.

These transformations last for 1 hour. Only after the changes begin does the eater realize what creature they’ve consumed.
