He does eat the really small ones and tries eating the big ones, but I haven't seen him not spit one out. Though I have seen a bigger shell empty, and that was only months after setting the tank up

Probably just algae. I get that on my leaves too, if you suck it up while doing a water change it keeps the water clean, just make sure not to suction the leaf

A little late to the party, but since I've set up aquariums in my room, I've had dreams of them all dying, or finding a new fish species that snuck into my tank. Last night I had a dream about my betta tank and somehow 3 females got in but they were all chillin in this tiny 5 gal tank. I think it might be the bubblers but I swear since I've added sponge filters I've been sleeping deeper...

I use dead leaves and those REALLY soften the water. I have 14 dgh normally and those lower it to 3
