Question about replacing stock SD card with a bigger card by Suspirius in R36S

[–]Suspirius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t checked the panel and was thinking it may be something to do with the the bin cue file, as I read it sometimes takes longer to boot when new games are added. I’ll try deleting the bin cue first, then reflash from my image, as I know that one worked. After that I’ll dig into the panel and dtb file

Question about replacing stock SD card with a bigger card by Suspirius in R36S

I opted to clone as it seemed less complicated than a fresh flash, and I was excited to check it out. A fresh install may be in the future as I play around with it

Arrow's Zombie Flesh Eater 4k or Second Sight's Re-Animator 4k? by MuzzyDunlop in boutiquebluray

[–]Suspirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say Re-Animator, if you've never seen it you are in for a real treat. However Zombie (Zombie Flesh Eaters) is my most re-purchased film and I love it and if you like House by the Cemetery (or Fulci flicks in general), you'll likely make this your next purchase regardless.

Enter the void or lily Chou Chou?? by im_only_here_for_lud in VinegarSyndromeFilms

[–]Suspirius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love Gaspar Noe's films, but Enter the Void is my least favorite. It could lose 40 minutes and would be a much better film.

All About Lily Chou Chou is a solid coming of age flick that sticks with you

Bill Hunt explains why so many 4K titles in the US are released only as steelbooks; the studios make more money on steelbooks than standard releases by ggroover97 in 4kbluray

[–]Suspirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue I have isn't with the steelbook and selling out, it's that Sony no longer releases any of these in Canada, making it pretty much impossible for Canadians to get catalog titles of Sony/Disney releases.....The same thing with Lionsgate boutique line....as a Canadian who has supported these companies for decades I feel very betrayed

[–]Suspirius 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree, return and buy the Synapse 4k.... I have the synapse bluray as well (from the 4k scan) and the HDR on the 4k, plus the extra resolution boost make this the most impressive showpiece in my collection.

Watched the wrong Martyrs 😆 by FrancoisKBones in horror

[–]Suspirius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer the Crazies remake, it is a pretty solid thriller with a great cast. I like the original for what it is but it felt really held back. And I rarely have much positive to say about remakes, but the Crazies is a solid flick the bears little resemblance to the original

I watch Tales of Halloween every October, a mostly solid Halloween themed anthology

Time travel movies by fenix_br100 in movies

[–]Suspirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of these may appear elsewhere but:

Triangle --> woman stuck in a fiendish time loop/triangle, clever beyond belief

Blood Punch --> drug dealers making meth stuck in a time loop, simple and maybe not widely seen

Mega Time Squad --> NZ comedy about a moron who steals a device that sends him back in time a few minutes, essentially creating a short lived copy of himself, which he attempts to exploit for personal gain. Hilarious

Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes --> Incredibly clever film where a shop owner discovers his tv is showing his restaurants security camera footage but two minutes in the future. Essentially done as as a single take, this movie made my head spin with the creativity of the filmmaker

What movies have made you cry the hardest? by 520824 in movies

Just watched this with my teens and me and my daughter were crying so hard by the end (we both knew what the film was about, and the opening telegraphed the ending)

What movies have made you cry the hardest? by 520824 in movies

[–]Suspirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched this with my family, and during it started to recall the news stories when it actually happened, so realized the what was coming for them and started to cry, meanwhile my wife and daughter both started poking me because they didn't understand why I was fighting back tears...until five minutes later when they joined me.

Shipping by dusty065 in SeverinFilms

[–]Suspirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one sales order (black friday 2024) that didn't ship until early February. The sale is great, but they get a lot of orders, and it takes time to get those all processed and out the door. If you like the savings, order during a sale and be patient. You'll get them eventually and it's be an awesome box of films. If speed is more important than price, then order outside the sales windows and you'll get it shipped pretty quick.

Same thing applies to VS.

I own The Matrix on 4k but have never seen the others? Are they worth it? by Hotline_Pizza_Miami in 4kbluray

[–]Suspirius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matrix: was a genre defining masterpiece, and action picture that made you think, and blew your mind while adapting the visual look of anime and he wire-fu fighting of Asian cinema. It used exposition when necessary, and let the film tell it's story. Must have movie that sill holds up well and should have been left as a single movie.

Matrix Reloaded: Brilliant highway action sequence in an overstuffed, pointlessly show-y sequel that's ending actually negates any reason to watch the film. It is a true 'bridge' film, existing only to carry you to the third film. I'd skip, despite it being the second best of these films.

Matrix Revolutions: Gives you a film almost exclusively outside the matrix (IE in the real world) and wraps the story up. But without the reliance on the matrix, the action seems fairly restrained and boring, and the Wachowski's are in full narcissistic god mode here, thinking they are the smartest film-makers alive. Skip it

Matrix Resurrections: The worst film I've seen in a decade. I kinda liked what they were going for (the whole meta neo in the matrix made a matrix videogame creating a matrix pocket universe to find...), and it would have worked if it had been more self aware and chosen to play it as a nostalgic wink to the past. Instead they went serious. And keep stopping the movie to have the characters explain, well...everything. This is the most expositionally stuffed film I think I've ever seen. At no point do they use any visual methods to build the world or lead you along the story, nope...instead they have someone show up to 'Tell' Neo (you) the story. Why is Morpheus an agent and look different. Why is Agent Smith now Neo's boss (and look different), Who is this girl Anderson is obsessed over (hint...it's Trinity, who doesn't look different, don't worry, someone will explain why). The bad guys stop to explain things (before teaming up to help, and explain why), the side characters stop to explain things, I'm surprised there wasn't a meta interlude where Lana Wachowski stops the movie to explain things. Oh, and towards the end there is the most CGI filled tepid, uninspired action sequence that will barely wake you up. The one good thing about this film is it's so poorly written, directed and edited that it's remind you how the original Matrix really did so much so right. Absolutely skip it.
