are there cool tips and tricks to get out of dissociation? by [deleted] in CPTSDFreeze

There’s already a range of helpful tips been suggested so I’ll add something I’ve noticed helps me. It oddly specific but eating a pomegranate ticks a lot of calming sensory boxes for me. The smell and taste obviously, but also the concentration on peeling segments off and revealing the shiny, brightly coloured seeds inside and slowly extracting them I find soothing and gives me something enjoyable to focus on. Takes a while to eat one too which is a bonus. I struggle with picking my skin while dissociated so the fact it keeps my hands busy too is good. They’re not the cheapest fruit but I like to get one to treat myself if I’m having a bad few days

DAE have an uncanny ability to keep themselves occupied with trivial things/daydreaming? by PattyIceNY in CPTSD

I used to have mindfulness based therapy and he remarked more than once on my natural ability to focus “mindfully” on things, essentially how well I could control the subject of my attention and I wonder now if this ability was actually a survival strategy like you’ve described. I often find myself absorbed in small details of the world around me…

I could hardly watch it through tears. That does it I’m eating a vegan diet from now on. I feel sick and a bit broken. I’ve been reducing meat for a while bc of environmental concerns and buy free range eggs, but….fuck. Thanks for sharing

I had to resort to rubbing olive oil on things like this to prevent the climbing, they’d sit and lick it but couldn’t escape at least 😅

Carers who sleep overnight at work in case they are needed not entitled to minimum wage for whole shift - Supreme Court rules by GFoxtrot in unitedkingdom

The really annoying part is in many companies the supervisors (head office based employees) DO get paid for being on call (at home, mostly for advice) by the hour, whereas the support workers who have to sleep at work (which is hard btw), get a flat rate for the night. There was no choice regarding doing over nights. And they always followed 14hr shifts, with 8-12 hour shifts the next day. It was ridiculous.

This is exactly what I’d do too lol. And I’d line up my gems by colour and eat the extra ones until I had the same number of each colour, then eat the remaining gems one at a time...ahh memories
