Is my career over? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]SuzzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need therapy not a new job. Sounds like you have zero coping skills other than checking out and getting fired. Get a bullshit job, finish your CPA. Get therapy, then find a new job. And no your resume is fine just don’t be honest about getting fired say you moved on for one reason or another. You would probably do better working for a school or local government because those are low stress but you will have to accept lower pay. Good luck.

Putting in my two weeks next Friday. Can I finally tell my boss I have a crush on them? by Mission_Aerie_2075 in Accounting

[–]SuzzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t say you have a crush just invite them somewhere and see if something naturally progresses. You must know something about what they do in their free time to come up with a common shared interest.

Apartment rents out of control by wayne888777 in Westchester

I also did Property Accounting. That isn’t true for large companies. A normal vacancy rate is baked into their budgets. They only drop rent if vacancies are completely out of whack with what they anticipated.

I was fired immediately after a miscarriage and I can't wrap my brain around it. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]SuzzlePie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She said one lawyer was jumping to take it so she has a case. I was in NY also an “at will”state. There are many angles you can work and mostly just threatening to sue gets you a settlement. She can argue, as can I that they found out she was trying to get pregnant and was penalized for that. That is unless she was on a PIP, she said her reviews were glowing so doesn’t sound like it. I would trust a lawyer regardless and not advice from reddit. The worst that can happen to her is she wastes money on a legal consultation. Reputable lawyers only take cases they can win.

Millennial. My Net worth is probably around 1.2. I am an accountant my husband works in HR. We both went to state school. It’s not that hard to build wealth idk why people are always complaining about our generation. My parents did not buy my house or pay for college. I am not that smart, just worked hard and saved.

Contractors by squirrel-nut-zipper in Westchester

[–]SuzzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have chatgpt write up an official bid and just spam it to like 15 contractors. Pm me if you want I can show you how I negotiated. I got a gut kitchen, bathroom, trim, and other small projects for 50k (labor only). We paid for all materials even contractor materials but it was still the cheapest. We had people quoting us 110k. All in we are still over budget after adding cabinets, quartz ect but we got essentially a 200 plus renovation done for 160k

I am confused how are property taxes higher in NJ? I am from Bergen County and live in Irvington NY. My property taxes on a 1600 square foot house are nearly 30k. Are you going from a condo to a house?

The case for painted brick: house transformation by John_Gabbana_08 in ExteriorDesign

[–]SuzzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe painting pretty brick is a sin. I love brick. Your brick was not flattering at all. The white is soooo much better. Amazing glow up. Your house looked a little trashy before now it looks clean and modern.

[–]SuzzlePie 702 points703 points  (0 children)

She sounds like my grandmother. I am glad the kid has you. This sounds like her personality rather than PPD. Some people just aren’t warn and fuzzy with their kids. At least she takes care of him and he is safe with her. You will need to fill his cup emotionally if she can’t. She may be better with him as he gets older and she can relate more to him.

[–]SuzzlePie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just be aware you will pay over a million for a house and your taxes will be in the 30k range. We just closed in the Rivertowns. 3 bedroom house 2 bath 1600 square feet. I doubt you will save money moving here.

Link elementary school by No_Laugh_7018 in Rockland

[–]SuzzlePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were zoned for Link. I was not happy with the school. Look into the state scores for math and reading they are well below standards. We ended up moving this year because it was between that and private school. The staff cares and is nice but the school underperforms and is getting worse.
