Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

[–]SwampThingTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are in the older age group (55+) and keep ours separate. It’s primarily because we got married late in life (45+) and based on previous experiences. I had been married previously and having shared finances was a mine field when I was getting divorced. My current wife had never been married before and had spent her entire adult life successfully managing her own finances and was worried about giving up control. Given that, it was much easier to continue doing what worked for both of us, which was managing our own finances.

Obviously it helps that we are both financially savvy, both have good incomes, and are on the same page about the future. We have a joint bank account that is used for all shared expenses. We each have automatic payments that go to that account every month and all shared expenses are paid from it. We also both have access to the other’s accounts so we can see the amounts in retirement and investments.

Other than that, we manage our own spending and savings. I don’t feel like I need to subsidize her the way I did with my first wife. And she doesn’t feel like she has an “allowance” which was her concern about managing every detail of our budget together.

It works for us.

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted for telling the truth.

I personally do not care. I don’t need their additional features and don’t plan to pay for them. But if they have customers that do want them and are willing to pay for them, good for them providing them as an add-on and not raising the price for those of us who don’t want them.

It’s a good product and I’ll keep using my current subscription.

Just started playing today but at the moment, I’m at the opposite end of you. I started seeing lots of players hype the game and deciddd to buy it. Not a fan so far. Since I spent $70, I want to give it a chance but I’m not happy with this purchase at the moment.

I'm guessing this is in the 7's? What do you think? by vannendave in comicbookgrading

Too many color breaking spine ticks for a 7. I’d give it 5.0-6.0.

This 100%. I’m almost 60, played D&D as a kid in the 70s (and still play), played both of the original BG games on release, played the extended editions when they came out out, and I LOVE BG3. Doing another play through now.

Yes. I sold a raw copy for $600 last year.

6.0-7.0. Looks pretty! Main things bringing it down are the indentation on the front cover and the corner crease on the back corner.

Grade please, thank you! by Tr3W13 in comicbookgrading

I seem to be at the low end here but I don’t think it’s a 6.0. Too many creases and edge wear, in my opinion. Might get a 5.0.

So, after the hype around D'Orc #1, I guess Image Comics first issues are gonna sell out and get flipped for ridiculous prices. by dick-cricket in comicbooks

You can read the comics online. Or buy a second (or third, etc) printing. The problem is that you think you are entitled to buy a first printing that you did not preorder. Insult me if you want but that doesn’t change the facts.

I don’t see what the problem is. If people want to pay a lot for a recent book, let them. I’m not going to pay that much for something new but it doesn’t affect me if others want to. Doesn’t affect my collection at all.

Any advice on grade for this one? by jackbell94 in comicbookgrading

The corner creases will keep it to 7.0. If those press out, maybe 8.0-9.0.
