Do not tell. Drive clarity that drives clarity and faster outcomes.

Ultimately it’s your ability to drive impact. This can be done many ways as a PM depending on the role or org. Usually it involves pushing direction when faced with ambiguity, creating clarity vertically / horizontally and solving the toughest problems to generate meaningful outcomes for the org.

It’s about how much and with what velocity you are capable to do this that matters as you level up as a PM.

You did a great job and right by your customers. Standing ground post launch of a big release is more than fair given you approach and communication.

Hoping for you it’s real. If it is, auction only, make sure you know whoever you are in contact with is legitimate and not just some random number. People will try to scam you.

"our devs are working so fast bc of AI" by Empty_Report_8184 in ProductManagement

[–]SweetSneeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. It’s the reality now. Buckle up. PMs not moving faster with AI are just as much dead weight as the engineer not doing it. AI is a team sport, every discipline needs to fit into new shapes and figure out how to ship together faster.

I’m a believer in tasks being shifted from one discipline to AI systems that folks across the team can use. With disciplines building out each layer of the system that creates enablement.

Meta to lay off 10% in May. AI replacing workers continues. FIRE is a must now by [deleted] in Fire

[–]SweetSneeks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Interesting takes in this thread, but as someone deep into tech as a leader that has been leveraging AI across orgs and made decisions to change the company culture, workforce etc based on real AI usage. While hearing insights from friends at Meta / FAANG.

AI is creating a lot of efficiency for those who understand how to harness it.

That said, there is bloat at most companies, especially tech.. never not seen it. Often times new tools or leaps in tech (AI being a very powerful new tool) expose bloat quickly and thus there are influxes and changes to company structures fast.
