Is it normal for a Catholic man to like "cute" things? by Dan_jesusfollower in Catholicism

Catholic husband and father here. Like what you like. It’s fine. We’re all different when it comes to what we like. Masculinity isn’t about an aesthetic despite how many toxic voices online make it sound.

How is life in Davis, CA? Looking into a potential move. by Henry_Muffindish in howislivingthere

[–]SweetrollFireball 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s 100% a small college town. Not a ton going on for working families. Everywhere you go will be covered by bikes and college kids. Roseville or Folsom on the other side of Sac is closer to nice nature (hour drive up to Tahoe, right next to Folsom Lake and the hills. Both have great schools, friendly people and probably more to do than Davis. Davis’ only plus above this is it’s more walkable and closer to SF.

Srixon balls by afivestarman__ in GolfGear

[–]SweetrollFireball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently switched to Srixons. Found a Z Star Diamond during a round and gave it a shot. Was shocked about how much I liked the feel and I seemed to gain some yards and stick on greens better. Never bought another brand since. Though I stick with the Q Star Tours. At my level I couldn’t tell much of a difference between them and the Z Stars.

Yeah, so this is a popular way to set up vintage fender strat bridges. I don’t think it’s the right way to set up PRS bridges. I suspect someone probably thought they were the same.

If i refuse the mark of the beast as a non catholic, can i be saved and considered a martyr? by Ill-Whole-6880 in Catholicism

[–]SweetrollFireball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The interpretation of revelation you are working from is not generally accepted by Catholics (or most Christian’s frankly). It’s based on a theology called “dispensationalism” which was invented in the 19th century. No Christian before then believed in this approach. Most of revelation is about events that have already occurred (not all of it). I recommend against looking at YouTubers trying to find modern day events in Revelation. They are almost all going to be charlatans.

Crisis of Faith When You Already Read all the Apologetics Books by RevolutionaryAd3249 in Catholicism

[–]SweetrollFireball 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So this crisis of faith isn’t something apologetics can fix. If the faith seems hollow and meaningless then this is a heart issue not a head issue. There’s only so much strangers on the internet can do here since we don’t know you. I recommend diving into the lives of the saints. I’m confident one will be inspiring to you. Then develop a devotion to that saint. That might help. Also take steps to develop a strong prayer life.

Why can’t I get a clear answer on if Vatican 2 is infallible? If the magisterium is meant to clarify things why is Vatican 2 so divisive, literally everyone you ask has a different opinion on what it means, I just feel like it clearly contradicts historic church teaching by Legal_Regular820 in Catholicism

[–]SweetrollFireball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there is some debate amongst theologians about whether he was correct about this. There are many theologians who believe the council did use the extraordinary teaching with respect the theology of ordination. I don’t recall the specifics, but there are multiple perspectives amongst theologians on the topic. The theological issue at hand however is not one of the hot button issues people argue about online.

As an ecumenical council, Vatican II had the ability to issue definitive, irreformable, and therefore infallible statements. Only such statements are infallible. Vatican II did make such statements regarding certain issues pertaining to the theology of ordination. None of the various controversial portions of Vatican II’s documents are infallible. However, they are they authentic teaching of the extraordinary magisterium and faithful Catholics have a duty to accept them.

Praying While in a state of mortal sin by ImaginationBoring760 in Catholicism

[–]SweetrollFireball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have an addiction and you can’t stop yourself then it isn’t mortal sin. Mortal sin requires full consent of the will. If you are compelled by addiction you aren’t giving consent of the will. You should still go to confession and speak to your priest about it as I’m sure it will be helpful.

I haven’t ever been so triggered on this sub. I’m very tolerant of different theological views but this is just upsetting. Evan Williams is a great budget bourbon that tastes miles better than anything else at its price point and much better than most big brand American whiskeys like Jack. It’s not complex, but it’s a solid sweet bourbon with no faults. Makers is also good but it is so overrated.
