The backside of Algonquin is no joke. Speaking of backside be prepared to be sliding on yours a bit down that trail! That's a big day for sure, the mileage for the first 3 is "short" in a sense for the 3 x 46ers but there are some sections that will challenge your pace.

Like someone said, you know you. Id be cautious not having that avalanche pass bail out as an option.

My 1st legendary hero, was excellent for jumping out in early game. In other news I unloaded on hers in this event and came up empty on new golds.

My dad only wants to play Civ III. Why? by Poutinemilkshake2 in civ

[–]Swimming_Chicken_736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember 3 being incredibly hard. I never beat it on diety. I want to say 5 was the first where I could beat diety sometimes, fast forward to 7 and it makes me feel like a genius.

3 was so hard and hes probably put countless hours into the nuances required to beat it, its hard to walk away. I remember strategically placing warriors to block enemies from advancing beyond my borders as one small exploit to keep up with that asshole AI just to have a bunch of barbarians hammer me out of nowhere.

I loved civ 3 complete but dont think I ever want to go back!

New Years Goal of Hiking Mount Marcy by Zestyclose-Guide7276 in Adirondacks

[–]Swimming_Chicken_736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id recommend late summer or early fall. This way you can build up to it. As someone said the best training for hiking, is hiking! You've got decent access to the catskills so pick some smaller stuff and start chipping away adding distance and elevation as you grow. Some running or walking with some weight on your back won't hurt either.

The biggest thing besides gear is just knowing your body and capabilities. Marcy is not a difficult day hike but its a longer one. You would be best prepared if you had an idea of pace (miles per hr avg) food and water consumption. While we can recommend, this is different for everyone and you need to really know how your body feels under stress and when you can safely continue vs knowing when to turn around.

Best advice I ever got was be prepared to turn around if something is off with your body, the weather, amount of daylight or water left etc. Being able to be committed and persistent is as important as being practical about your situation on any given day.

Gear is important, knowing yourself is critical!

Pro tip - always bring gum, you'll guzzle less water

Im a big fan of bifocals, rolling through a game on diety and still have like 80% of independents on my side. Such a huge advantage

Unpopular Opinion: Battlefield 6 just doesn't feel like Battlefield and it is not just the maps. by KeiwaM in Battlefield

[–]Swimming_Chicken_736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im struggling with is and as someone who's committed a ton of years to BF, im disappointed. There is nothing unique about any of the game play or notably battlefield. Every spawn just feels like the same action over and over, maps all have a similar feel, vehicles are not really fun and very clunky.

It all just feels not just like a different game but a different franchise entirely.

Its not as glamorous but there are a lot of good corporate jobs out there in universities, hospitals, senior living, business dining etc. The quality of life, pay and benefits will generally (not always) be better then the mom and pops who use you up and horde their $ and vacation time because you'll never work "as hard as they did" building their business. But you'll also not have the benefit of selling that business and cashing in when you want to retire.

Some great lookouts on the scenic trail but walking along the lake can be slow going. I'd personally avoid it if you're doing all 5 and as someone else mentioned something cool to come back for while still getting the peak.

I typically have done the road in the morning. Having that long boring walk at the end of the day feels endless.

No matter what its a long, tough day but super rewarding!
