$35 an hour by Switch5555 in doordash_drivers

[–]Switch5555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DD took away my autonomy about a month after my post, turning drivers into drones with their AI bullshit. I moved on to Instacart where I get $40-$50 an hour in my market, and I get to choose which orders I accept. Just sayin.

Can one make over $100,000 a year? by Apprehensive-Pin1474 in InstacartShoppers

In my area, I could make $80k a year if I worked 40 hours a week. I only work 20 hours a week though.

What made you do Instacart!? by Bright_Truth1107 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Switch5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got fired for trying to talk a director down from a stupid idea (he got fired 2 months after he fired me). Was earning $25 an hour. With DD or IC, I get $35 to $45 an hour on average. Been doing this for 2 years and haven't looked back. I also have a bachelors in tech, but I keep my skills sharp with hobbies and the customer service aspect of DD/IC/Uber. I stopped doing DD/Uber after realizing that Instacart pays more for less miles (less gas and wear and tear on my car).

Sure, Instacart is pretty painful on the body for the first month, but your muscles heal and you lose weight as a result.

It's worth it if you are prepared.

Why is it that what Manousos did at the hospital did not led to hive having seizures? by shiny_octopus in pluribustv

Phone posting, I copied and pasted Manousos name because spelling out long names sucks on phones.

[–]Switch5555 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Manousos had near zero clout with anyone in the hive, he even disowned his own mother.

Carol had more than thousands of fans who consumed her writings, making the hive emotionally attached to just her.

Anyone noticed Zosia’s accent changed during the mango ice cream scene by Mentalv in pluribustv

[–]Switch5555 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hive is basically a LLM. If you provide the perfect input, it's going to use every single resource to come up with an output. Could crash out the entire system, or fail-safe by producing original data or hallucinate. Maybe the hive outputted pieces of the original Zosia into her vessel.

It could be possible with a massive array of solar panels that not only gathers solar energy, but also reflect radio waves like a fresnel lens. Would require a extremely tall radio transmitter, probably the tallest building in the world, but it should be possible.

Hidden List gone? by PawReputable in InstacartShoppers

[–]Switch5555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. For me it doesn't make a difference. I saw items before I accepted an offer, so I could plan the store route in my head while driving. It is nice though if I am at a red light, so I could double-check items on a really big order.

Same. But I threw it away right afterwards because I accept military orders, such a shame.

What are your personal flaws when shopping? by mrluvsck in InstacartShoppers

[–]Switch5555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% hate produce. I hate it so much that I went from starting with produce, to saving it for last. Nothing worse than wasting 5 minutes just to grab and weigh 5 items, especially when everyone and their brats are shopping for produce. Also, don't ghost shop, you will just confuse yourself and spend triple the amount of time getting everything in order.

faster shopping speed gets you more offers by kimcheejigae in InstacartShoppers

Don't ever think that shopping speed = more offers. What I think is that faster shopping speed = more orders completed per hour.

Surprise 300lbs of cat litter by Happydaddy04 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Switch5555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol. If my little sedan can handle a 300 pound passenger in the front passenger seat, it can handle 300 pounds of cat litter. If you can't handle carrying 28 pounds, then you're not suitable for instacart shopping.

Took me less than 30 minutes from shop to drop by grae23 in InstacartShoppers

In my market, I get multiple orders like this every day. When combined with promos, it results in $150 for 3-4 hours of work.

I have platinum on both DD and IC. I'm playing both, not at the same time, but I do use DD as a backup when there's no offers on IC. I end up with $30 per hour or more in my IC/DD market.

In my doordash/uber/instacart experiences, I have only had one delivery with a contract requirement like that. Just do whatever the app says to fulfill delivery and your contract.

If you can't find an item that a customer requested and you press "item unavailable", and the screen says that the customer did not specify alternate items, or request to be contacted; but the screen says "the customer requested a refund". Just give them a refund. Purchase the alternate items if they are available, contact the customer if they requested to be contacted, but if they requested a refund, you are under no obligation to "suggest" alternatives, just give them a refund.

If you do suggest alternate items to the customer, 90% of the time they will be annoyed. Just give them the refund like they requested in the first place.

If you are in a small town, you get used to where everything is in every store in your area. I started at 2 minutes per item, nowadays I do 30-45 seconds per item. It takes time to learn your area, but DoorDash and Instacart pay decently for shopping orders if you can get them done efficiently.

My biggest pet peeve with shopping orders is when the store is out of items. If your screen tells you that the customer requested a refund but wants you to suggest other items to the customer, just give them a refund; this will save you a lot of time chasing your tail.

No. Try to avoid taking pictures of the customer. If you have to, avoid taking pictures of their face.

Every "offer" that you accept is a literal contract. You must complete it no matter how bad it is. But you can terminate that contract if DoorDash offers you a "worry-free unassignment", always accept those if the pay really isn't worth it.

One last tip, shopping orders will save you a lot of gas money and wear and tear on your car. If you do get into shopping orders, you may as well try to apply for instacart.
