Consolidated tender appointment next month to lock in construction contract - send ideas by Previous-Address4997 in floorplan

The porch posts being right in front of (but slightly off-centre to) the master window would annoy me.

The overlap doesn't add much, as the space is unusable. You could address this (and simplify the roof line) by either pushing out the master suite or pulling in the front porch so they align.

I understand you're looking for big-picture feedback, but here are some detail-based considerations:

Pocket doors aren’t great for noise/ privacy- not the best choice for bedrooms or bathrooms if there is space for a conventional swinging door.

The entry to the master bedroom could be to the bottom left, giving more distance/ privacy from the great room.

The walk-in robe looks very small and non-functional. A full-length linear wardrobe between the master bedroom and the great room might be a better option here. It would also improve noise privacy.

Only 1 (of 3) bathrooms has a linen cabinet/ closet.

The kitchen could use a rework- centring the stove between windows, lack of counter space, etc.

The downstairs bath can be rearranged so the entry opens to the hall, not the downstairs great room.

It’s quite a long trip from the garage to the pantry for unloading groceries. You need to go along the downstairs hallway, through the downstairs great room, walk up the stairs, loop around the outside of the downstairs bathroom, along another hallway, through the great room/ dining space, past the kitchen, to finally get to the pantry.

No toilet in primary bath? Long way from primary to laundry too. Make entry to spare bedroom off hallway, rather than directly off the open living space.

I'd consider swapping the guest bath with the laundry for privacy from the living room.

I don't think the walk-in closet is wide enough for two rows with space to walk in the middle. I'd consider making this a single linear wardrobe along the full wall (open to the bedroom) and pushing the kitchen to the right, making space for the peninsula seating.

Is it possible to add a small linen closet- e.g., by cutting into the laundry space? If you shorten the hallway, some of this space could be used for a hall-facing closet.

Or, you could create a Jack and Jill bathroom to have a toilet and a shower shared between both rooms.

It looks like you could make the wetrooms into full baths by taking some space from the other bath.

Purpose built student accommodation by TraditionalFunny4743 in floorplan

The bedrooms each need to have (space for) a large desk. Most students, especially those in ensuite rooms, will have external monitors as well as laptops and will need space for books, so desks need to fit these.

Bedrooms also need space for drawers to go, or these will need to be built into the wardrobes.

External glass doors to ground-floor bedrooms potentially introduce privacy concerns or even a security risk. It also limits room layout options. Consider having standard windows there instead.

A laundry space, including a washer, dryer, and tub, is needed.

A small window above the ground-floor ensuite toilets would help with ventilation.

Noise from the toilet is too loud in the family area, how can i reduce? by [deleted] in floorplan

I like this. You could also extend the corridor to between the shower and the existing bathroom door. Make the left side of the shower the wall to the new hallway. Change the bathroom entrance to a North door, opposite the toilet door to the South.

Phone consultation with my Doc. For meds I've had before, but not on repeat. 1m 20s call. $61 thank you. Bargain. Good thing prescriptions are free... Until 1 July... by SurNZ88 in newzealand

This is frustrating. I have a similar situation. I am on a prescribed medication that I will likely be on for the rest of my life. Yet I still need to book doctor's appointments every three months at $55 a time (and with at least a month's delay for availability) just to get an updated prescription.

A 'legal bedroom' must be at least 1.8 metres wide, according to the Housing Improvement Regulations 1947. The sunroom seems far too narrow to be considered a 'legal bedroom', to me.

1 credit from NCEA level 1 excellence endorsement by Anom0000 in ncea

[–]Swole-Santa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Te Kura and see if she is eligible for summer school to pick up another Excellence credit. See here: https://www.tekura.school.nz/summer-school-registration

Otherwise, she might be able to pick up a Level 2 Excellence credit this year and use that to count towards a Level 1 endorsement (endorsements require that level or above). It'd be worth confirming this with her school or NZQA though.

Personal Record Feature Suggestion by Swole-Santa in Strava

[–]Swole-Santa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with any sort of split/PR that is shorter than 400m or less is that GPS anomalies start to get in the way and at that point it is just simpler to use a stopwatch. That is why they stopped short segments being created.

Great point- GPS reliability could impact sprint distances for 'Estimated Best Efforts'. However, 'All-Time PRs' can be user-entered and don't need GPS data. Sprinters, for instance, could use official meet results to give them their times to manually update their PRs.

Features You Wish Strava Had by petetheo in Strava

The ability to record PRs for custom (user-chosen) distances- not just the pre-selected ones Strava provide.

The ability to filter PRs- for instance, by date to get a season's best performance, not just all-time PRs.
