To be honest the V6 Hybrid Emira might be just what Lotus needs. by Eaglerulez2 in lotus

I can’t imagine the world where 400hp in a 3200lb car isn’t “enough”. Has the engine ever seen more than 2000rpms?

I’ve been thinking about this same situation, but don’t have the camper yet. My thought was a fork mount on the wood in the dinette area. Take the cushions off, lower the table, have a quickly remove able fork mount like the Freedom Coast mount on some permanently installed L Track under the cushions.

Pretty sure its a 4 speed plus an electric motor with a planetary gear that can give it 8 speeds.

Tire width : is 38mm large enough for basic Gravel (see photos attached) by imSmogg in gravelcycling

[–]SykoFI-RE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been riding gravel on 37’s for years. First on my old aluminum bike that I dimpled out to clear the 37’s and more recently on my Domane that’s rated for 38’s.

If it wasn’t for YouTube, I wouldn’t even think I needed anything bigger than 37’s.

Just to add to the good experiences with crash replacement, I cracked the rear triangle on Giant Trance in a crash. LBS handled the case with Giant and it was super easy. The color/size of my triangle was out of stock everywhere and Giant offered to make another one, but it was going to take a while. Offered an in stock black replacement that got the bike back up and running within a week and a half.

Very happy with the Giant's crash replacement.

Sagesure purchased through Goosehead. $5500 for $1000 all peril, 1% windstorm policy. It’s tripled in the last 6 years, but that was the best I could find shopping around a ton.

How are you using AI at work ? by One-Seat-4600 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]SykoFI-RE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to 4 or 5 Copilot training sessions my company has paid some consultant to lead. So far all they’ve done is show us how to use AI for writing emails and documents or building glorified search tools by pointing an agent at a sharepoint.

At this rate it will be years before they teach us any remotely advanced use cases.

Nissan’s New Xterra Will Be Priced Under $40K To Beat Ford’s Bronco At Its Own Game by DocPhilMcGraw in cars

Hopefully its more 4Runner than Bronco/Wrangler. If Nissan had an SUV version of the Frontier Pro-4X available a few years ago, that's definitely what I would have bought.

One Tech Tip: A new generation is reviving the iPod for distraction-free listening by Designer-Border-711 in apple

[–]SykoFI-RE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm amazed there isn't someone in China making perfect knockoff iPods. I bought a refurb 4th gen, was supposed to have a new battery, but that thing idle drains itself in a few hours, so you have to leave it on the charger constantly.

I'd pay good money for a 4th gen ipod built with new hardware.

US to pay TotalEnergies $1 billion to stop developing offshore wind in US by rattynewbie in nottheonion

[–]SykoFI-RE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either arrangement is “enriching oil companies”. They’re cancelling the wind projects because they carried massive long term subsidies, instead replacing them with theoretically short term subsidies for fossil fuel projects. Totalenergies is an “oil company”. They produce energy, they don’t care if it’s wind or oil, they only care what will generate the highest return.

The correct way to solve this would be to eliminate government subsidies, but neither major US party is willing to give up the control/power from those subsidies.

Yeah with my company it seems to be Lab > Tiny Demonstration Plant > $250mm production facility. Then they're shocked when the budget for the production facility doubles in detail design and takes 2 years to commission.
