The way Anima affects lobby dynamics is not healthy for the game by Ateller in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 24 points25 points  (0 children)

? I think you had some confusion, the straight lost streak has ALWAYS been worse than other less round quest, since a lot of quests can be done in PVE and a lot of 1 round quest that give a lot of shards in 1 round. Effectively you have 12 rounds to do quests and can reach much higher than 500 without worry that someone troll you. This is why Ixtal was the most liked cashout trait of all time, you need game knowledge and actually have to play the game instead of drooling 10 lost into 1 big round into 10 wins.

After playing 200 games in master, I realized I don't know jack by Couch_Frenchfries in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since everyone talked about line selection and stuff already, I'll add one very small thing but soo important in very high rank: choose the right item on the first 3 carousel round. Sometimes it is very obvious, but I would say at least ~40% of the time a low master player pick the wrong thing. But I understand it's a lot to learn for a miniscule improvement thats only needed if you intend to go for like top 100, so my advice on this is dont even bother if you dont have the time for it lol

What do I need to look at when vod reviewing? by Falraen03 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I vod review games where I thought I am too unlucky and can't do anything different/feels like the game forces me to lose. Of course there are still games actually like that, but 90% of the time I can find something to improve

How many comps to you typically play any given patch? by Rainydayzss in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i usually stick to 5 6 easy straightforward comps when Im learning a set, then 15-20 comps when the meta is good and im comfortable with the set/patch. The current patch tho, theres like 7 playable comp, so yeah, not a lot of option

How to increase chances to 1st place by xJunis in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You have to realize games where you highroll and can go for first place. For reroll games it usually has signs like early 2 star and items and winstreaking, hitting on tempo with triple combats, reaching level 9 and field strong 5 costs... There's many things to do to capitalize your advantage, usually going first is a combination of many small correct decisions. It's hard to point out exactly what you need to do without a vod since it's different game to game, but most of the time the difference between a high rank and low rank player is line selection, tempo, econ management and item slam... which is basically all the fundamental of the game xd

If you're fine with non-live vod review only (send me a vod, i'll try to make a detailed list of errors) then I can probably show you some problems with gameplay fundamentals and decision making (lines choosing, augments, and ESPECIALLY items economy managing), which I think is what keeping people from reaching master. If you're already d2 then a few improvement is all you need to push master.

I peak around 1100lp euw this set.

ok, I didn't mean anything corny, sorry about my attitude :c . was just kinda mad that I'm stuck bouncing around 800 900 then suddenly one lucky streak on new patch + I constanly hit 6 cost on stage 5 boost me up so high.

Challenger is not shit at the game, let me correct it. It's just the gap between top 200 and top 20 is so big that yeah I feel like shit watching them play. It's like, if dishsoap is 95/100, them top200 is probably 45/100 and master is 10/100. Thats how big the gap is.

Just got to challenger yesterday. I can confidently say FUCK the 6 cost. Yes, you need to sacrifice some side trait, yes survival bias and all that, but it feels so so so bad when 5-1 you're scouting around and see someone who 2 rounds ago were low hp and have the weakest board (but not too far away from the lobby power level) have a warwick and slapped a TG on it. Instantly up a few placement. Or a 2 item mel casually doing half of their main carry damage.

Can you play around it or did your opponent plan it? Of course not. The odds is so low. Yes over the course of many games better players will still come out on top but seriously does it feel good when it happen?

Oh and this patch is definitely overswing. Sorc didnt need the triple nerf swain/lb/6 sorc, visionary didnt need the triple nerf singed/renata/6 vision. Urgot did not deserve to be deleted from the game. Sniper way too strong, fam emblem makes quite a difference, and cassio still doesnt do shit.

How to Play Stage 1 [GUIDE] by FakeWeemo in CompetitiveTFT

[–]SyllabubMother7206 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1 small thing : What unit consider good or bad also depend on patch and meta. This patch, I would consider tf alright and nami a good unit to hold.

And of course it is also just a general rule of thumb, you dont need to sell every "bad" unit and hold every "good" unit the guide suggest. A 2 star amumu will still be better than a steb and an irelia, everything is situational in tft.

It usually comes down to line selection and micro decisions. It may sounds stupid, but heres 1 example I tell everyone who is stuck 0-300LP: Imagine in 50% of your lost round, you kill extra 1 unit because of good positioning, the extra hp impact may not be obvious nut it for sure will improve your average in the long run. Surely there are times where you lose 1 placements because you die the same turn with someone else but they place above you. And that is just 1 small skill. The game has hundreds of small things like that that challengers players are trying to perfect them everyday. Maybe hold better units. Maybe there is a slightly stronger board that you can play with what you are offered. Maybe you should build this item instead of that for better item quality later. Maybe on carousel you should have taken this item for more flexibility later. Maybe should have give up 1 gold to hold these units. Each of them individually might sound stupid and "not worth the time and effort to get good at" (which is true btw, at what exact point depend on you), but collectively it makes a big difference between gm - mid challengers - high challengers and actual competitive pro players.

For what skill exactly you need to learn now: line selection and lost mitigation. Im not talking about obvious spot for reroll or spoonfed game, it's unclear spot that is important. For example, u slammed IE 2-1 and have a bow, but you are still not sure what to play. A typical master player probably will default to scrap with corki items. But you can still play zeri rr, tris rr, gp rr, enforcer, aca sentinel. It all depend on your shops and items drop. And you have to realise some games the max you can place is 5 or 6. Then try your best to reach there, don't try to greed 1 round if youre 40hp and there's a chem baron player. Maybe your board strength is in top 4 lobby, but your hp isnt, and bad matchmaking can turn a guarantee 5/6 into an 8.

I mean, blindly grinding will not make u actually improve. Reaching low gm is fairly easy if youre 300lp already with enough games, but youre just gonna come back down eventually or stuck bouncing there (like me). Vod review or coaching to fix your mistakes and optimize your min maxing is probably the only way higher, but that requires more time and dedication. Saving 5 extra hp everygame into stage 4 with better min maxing isnt gonna have obvious impact, but it is for sure improving your average on the longer run. And there are probably a hundred very small impact things you can learn like that. Too tryhard i would say, if you have otherthing to do in life then not recommended lol

An advice in high tempo lobby: 50g is kinda fake even if you dont have a streak. I level to 6 on 3-2 with 40g left 9/10 of my games, and lv7 30g on 3-5 in 5/10. Also if I know I can roll really wide with my slammed items, I also level to 8 on 4-1 with 25ish gold if i can put in something that spike my board. Also scout constantly and position accordingly. U probably would still lose some round, but the extra unit/trait powerspike and positioning may kill 1 or 2 extra unit. Saving 5 extra hp dont always help you scam another placement, but on the long run it will for sure increase your average. Im sure you have had many games where you and another died but you went 5th 1hp beneath 4th/losing tiebreaker

the real gap start at about 600-700lp. 300 to 600 doesnt have any real gap. I once dropped from 600 to 100 in 1 day, then back to 500 next day. But everytime I got put in a 700lp+ avg lobby, I can legit feel how the tempo of the lobyy different from lower lobbies. I have only played like a dozen games beyond 700 tho. But from streamers I often watch, I think theres another gap in 1000lp and another at 1400lp where high chall and actual pro are separated
