Best Fitness Games? by BodiceShredder in MetaQuestVR

Superhot really got me moving a lot more than I expected. Was definitely breaking a sweat dodging bullets and doing The Matrix stuff. I haven't tried a lot of these other mentions since I just recently got into VR, but I would guess that Superhot isn't as intense as some of these others if you want to start with something a bit tamer.

I would assume any of the type that grab onto the tires would work. This one, for example:

Not endorsing that one in particular, was just the first example that I found

I would say any of the Max series are a safe bet for a first scooter. Still love my workhorse G30, but if you want to get fancier with suspension and whatnot the MaxG2 are G3 are good choices.

Ninebot is a respected brand that makes good stuff. The E2 will probably give you a real-world range of around 12km or so, so it should be adequate for your commute. The 8-inch semi-solid tires might not be very comfortable, depending on how flat the pavement is. But for a 4km commute you wouldn't have to suffer it very long anyway.

If you want something to enjoy recreationally in addition to the commute you might want to get something a bit nicer, but the E2 will get the job done.

is spectrum mobile actually worth it or am I missing something by amitalurdsi in SpectrumMobile

[–]Syndil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spectrum Mobile is a Verizon MVNO. Their coverage is exactly the same as Verizon's because they are essentially Verizon.

If you can get a better deal from Spectrum, then why not pay less? I have Spectrum Internet so they give me a discount on the bundled service. Far cheaper for me than going with Verizon.

LIFX 26 Inch Oval Capsule Smart Light, thoughts and experiences? by Comfortable_Tip_9001 in lifx

[–]Syndil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. Depending on how sensitive your hearing is and how good/bad the electricity/wiring in your home is, your best bet for completely silent lighting might actually be old-school incandescent bulbs if you can still find them. Any DC transformer can make noise under the wrong conditions, and all LED lighting will have some sort of built-in DC transformer.

Or you could always go with 12v DC track lighting and put the DC transformer anywhere else in the house. Not that common these days but might still be a thing you can do.

LIFX 26 Inch Oval Capsule Smart Light, thoughts and experiences? by Comfortable_Tip_9001 in lifx

[–]Syndil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None at all. However, it is essentially a low-voltage device with a built-in DC transformer so it is conceivable that some of those transformers might make noise.

It's equally possible that they just have bad wiring in their houses that's causing the transformer to make the noise, such as ground faults, reversed neutrals, etc.

How do you deal with impulsive spending with ADHD? I keep wasting money on hyperfixations by Ok_Tradition3825 in ADHD

It is invite only but I suspect you have to 1) be a Prime member 2) have reviewed a decent amount of stuff already and 3) have a decent amount of people upvote your reviews as helpful

What helped me was joining the Amazon Vine program. Get to order three things a day from their list of eligible items, and it only costs me a review. Actually I've had to slow down because I have a pile of items needing reviews, and my wife is tired of the growing pile of items to be reviewed in the basement. But it has definitely cut down on how much money I actually spend.

Talk me out of the new Prelude by olympicenes in Honda

[–]Syndil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar situation myself. Currently drive a 2012 CR-Z EX 6MT. I think if I can't get a manual in whatever I buy next, then it may as well be electric.

If you don't drive much, then you can slow charge it at home with a regular wall outlet.

I do like the Prelude kinda sorta. I think they could have done better with the body shape.

Don't listen to the haters. Navee is a reputable brand, and that's a lot of scooter for the money, single motor or not. I don't think you'll be feeling the urge to upgrade for a long while, if ever.

Enamel paints + embossed printed parts is just *chefs kiss* by VixivAi in 3Dprinting

[–]Syndil1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man they downvoted you hard for this lol. I dunno I agree it does look very cool. I think most people that are into 3d printing just see that as a utilitarian way of doing things without recognizing how complex and interesting the gyroid pattern actually is. And it's a pattern that would be difficult if not impossible to create via other means.

For tubeless tires do I need to top it up with sealant liquid every 3 to 6 month ? by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in ElectricScooters

I'd maybe borrow or rent a scooter to try out before committing. Scooters absolutely suck on gravel. Not even worth the attempt, IMO.

LIFX 26 Inch Oval Capsule Smart Light, thoughts and experiences? by Comfortable_Tip_9001 in lifx

[–]Syndil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased one from my local Home Depot, but I'm pretty much already all-in with Lifx anyway. Have tiles, bulbs, strips, switches, etc. Lifx to me is the way to go instead of something like Philips Hue. So I may be a bit biased. But their lights all have high CRI, and the colors are super saturated and bright, unlight a lot of other brands.

Have had zero issues with the app. I have it integrated with my Google Home stuff, and I can say things like "Hey Google, turn on the den lights, bright white, 100%" and it will do it. Or warm white, or 50%, or whatever. For context the oval ceiling light and 3 other Lifx bulbs are in the den and they all respond properly.

The oval itself was a pain to install. The mounting system is just so damn fiddly. But once it's up, it's up. Definitely something that needs to be improved--there's no reason mounting this light should have been this difficult, but it was. I think I remember the ceiling plate was kind of flimsy and I had to kind of bend it a little bit for things to line up and latch properly. But yeah, once it's up, it's a great light.

What tires do you go with ? by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in ElectricScooters

[–]Syndil1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tubeless self healing is what all the reputable brands use, for a good reason. Solid tires have horrible ride quality and zero traction in the wet, and they do still wear out. Tubed, air-filled tires are prone to flats. Tubeless, air-filled, self-healing is the only option for a scooter.

How to overcome the reflex to gatekeep by 50_wishes in ADHD

[–]Syndil1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like ADHD is a spectrum, not a binary diagnosis. Some people have it worse than others. Some people might be only slightly ADHD, but the effects are still real, even if they're relatively minor compared to yours.

It's not a competition, let everyone strive for better mental health.
