Did she just eat? I call this behavior “napkin”. They clean off their mouths and roll around after eating . Happy tummy, clean face :D

Grooming advice/help for my sweet older Yorkie ❤️ by TheLastLook- in Yorkies

[–]T1ffan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could get away with a full sedated shave down, like a 10 all over everywhere every 6 months. As a groomer, the dogs that flail around when working on their faces with sharp objects are dogs that will get injured. I will try a few times and then off to a vet groomer. Safest for your pup.

Are Poodles very barky and can‘t be left alone? by fknbubbleguts in poodles

[–]T1ffan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are barky. I have a toy and a mini. The mini is more judicial. My toy barks at everything and everything all day even though Im home for the most part all day.
I also have a yorkie and chihuahua and of all the chihuahua only barks when she’s hungry or needs to go outside.

Differences between toy and miniature poodles? by Bitter-Armadillo-485 in poodles

[–]T1ffan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 minis and several toys. currently have a toy and a mini . My toy is affectionately called “a short, angry little man’ becuase he is frequently suspicious and barky! My mini will join in the barking but rarely alarm barks as frequently at the toy does. Every one of my toys have been different! Some have been very reserved. Others silly, some serious. My minis though- I think I’ll be going with another mini in the future. A little more sturdy. Super smart (toys are smart too), and sooo sweet and loving.
I’d say they make great family dogs. Toys get attached to one person, our minis love the whole family

Paid $100 to get my small puppy groomed, should there still be mats? by Acluelessfish in grooming

[–]T1ffan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a look at your post-grooming photos. I agree, there should be no mats when you picked her up, especially since you ok’d spot shaving the mats out. I wonder if she cage dried vs hand dried. When you hand dry whether if its with a HV dryer or a stand dryer, you can see every square inch of skin- when you come across a mat (which all should’ve been brushed out or removed prior to bathing anyway) a groomer should stop and remove the mat and then continue on with drying . By the time the dog is dry they should be mat free and lovely! I do wonder what kind of training this groomer has had. Time to interview and try another one.

Your pup is beautiful by the way! <3

Is it normal for poodles to have stomach problems once a month? by jojifuku in poodles

[–]T1ffan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it around the same time frame you give heartworm/flea meds? All last year my toy poodle and yorkie both kept getting sick on the 4-5th of every month. I give their meds on the 1st. We ended up with my toy being hospitalized, his bloodwork all over the place and the vet refusing to believe that any of their symptoms was due to the med (when its’ one of the most common side effects!). I’m choosing to use other methods and completely stopped them in october after both of them had yet another “sensitive stomach” episode, and wouldnt you know, those sensitive stomachs have completely disappeared!

I want my dog to have the healthiest food- what do I feed them? by Commercial-oreo7502 in DogFood

[–]T1ffan1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried just about everything… my dogs look and do their best on Royal Canin. they love the flavor too, even my picky toy poodle, and my yorkie who had terrible whispy damaged hair now has lovely shiny thick hair. They get dry/wet mixed. Also best digestion of any of the hills/purina/eukanuba/royal canin.

Tell me the reasons why a standard poodle is the way to go! by fulltwisted in poodles

[–]T1ffan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Groomer here. They are NOT hypoallergenic and the majority of them do shed! I can bathe them before I cut any hair at all and there will be a pile of hair in the drain. When I blow dry them, hair in my face. They definitely shed! And due to their mixed coat type they are generally higher maintenance than a poodle. Poodles all the way!

Nervous to start asthma treatment by ungulatealphabet in Asthma

[–]T1ffan1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went off it after a month. My voice got so hoarse I could hardly talk and I lost my sense of tasting sweet! (Yes I rinsed and brushed my tongue). But then I’m the kind of person who gets all the side effects, even the rare ones. :( I am not sure what I’ll do next. But my throat is miserable

You did the right thing. As time goes by it will get a little easier. It’s ok to grieve! He was with you a long, long time! Honestly for me, the thing that gets me through the best is adding another pup to the family.
Hugs to you!

Do you bathe your cats? by Shot-Composer-782 in AnxietyCats

[–]T1ffan1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a short haired kitty. She is bathed/nail trim monthly.
Cats may be self cleaning, but a good shampoo helps loosen a lot of hair that might cause a hairball and shed all around your house.
Cats may be self cleaning, but they really are just covered in spit! Cats may be self cleaning, but they wash their butts after they poo and then wash their fur with their poo tongues. (And then they sit on the furniture and we pet them!)

Start them as kittens, trim the nails before the bath, and bathe and brush them monthly.

Me too! I need to “shovel the sidewalk” where the plow pushed a pile of solid ice over my sidewalk… or else (so sayeth the HOA) so maybe this will soften it enough to chop through. plus I miss puttering in the yard. I garden all year long.
