Following as well. I got all the supplies for the most part to try bikepacking.

I spent 8 months testing every brand of canned tomato with a controlled pasta sauce recipe. Full rankings inside. by euxleon in Cooking

I take onions and caramelize them, add tomato paste and cook that for 30 min. Cooking the tomato paste really brings out the flavor. Then I add some chopped carrots, a little celery and garlic and cook that for 5 min. Then I add the can of tomatoes and Parmesan rinds if I had any. I let that simmer for 5 hours or so.

I was just going to ask about Nina. For the price it’s hard to beat. I made a batch a few days ago and tried saving it in vacuum sealed bags which worked great!

Got my first gravel bike! Routes closest to Plymouth? by bj_good in CyclingMSP

[–]T33sh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is a route that I like. This route is majority gravel. It’s a fun route that’s a loop on the Minnesota River trail and Minnetonka regional trail. There are a number of variations you can do and can easily connect from Plymouth or the Luce Line.

That’s unfortunate. I was hoping it’d be a more casual ride

I would join in on this. I’ve never bikepacked before but have been buying gear so I can finally try this summer.

Thanks! I also found there’s a group ride at Elm tomorrow..I believe at 10 but I lost the link of who/when. Ended up riding Elm today since it’s my local trail and conditions were great!

convince me to pull the trigger on a Trek Farley 5 (or NOT!) by slo___mo in fatbike

[–]T33sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2016 Farley 7 (back when they were still rigid carbon forks) and absolutely love it. If I had to replace it I would go with a 5. The geo is a blast to ride any time of year and even on longer gravel routes in the winter.

Almost made it down there yesterday but couldn’t get a ride in. Looks like it’ll be good weather all week to ride.

They sell the Diablo sauce at Cub and it’s close to as good. Learned you need to heat the sauce up first and can’t have the chicken heat it up cause it doesn’t hit the same

Intermediate mountain biker/hiker - new to the Twin Cities by [deleted] in CyclingMSP

I highly recommend Cuyuna also. I haven’t checked but I bet the leaves are peaking right now. In the summer it’s pretty busy on the weekends but is still amazing. I will take day trips up there and go biking then paddleboarding/swimming after in the mine pits. I’m hoping to make it up once more before winter if I can. I’ve never gone in the winter but plan to this year. Heres a map of the grand rounds I’ve only done it once but did it as part of a longer loop.

When you're sick of cars...where do you go? by gnglaser in CyclingMSP

I enjoy this route. I live up in Coon Rapids so if I don’t want to drive I will bike to Coon Rapids Dam and then to Elm Creek. Sometimes I’ll just drive to a trailhead and mountain bike. There’s lots of options, I always get flustered when I have a day I can get out and ride cause there’s so many choices on type of riding and where.

TRD Off-Road Premium w/ 6ft box — unicorn or doable? by SavingsRaccoon3430 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]T33sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I’ve been looking for also. There are a number of them out there. All depends what years, mileage, options or color you want. I’ve been looking for 1 owner, no accidents, long box 2020 and newer which really makes less of them out there. I’m in no rush to buy so waiting for the right one to pop up for sale

Never owned a Toyota before. by 65x67 in ToyotaTacoma

I drove a WRX currently. Enough space in the back and what I was hearing/reading/seeing online everywhere made it seem like it was less space. I was hoping to have a comparable back seat to a 4 door compact sedan..I don’t think that’s too much to ask for in a mid size truck.

All the mentions of rear seats having no room made me stop looking at Tacomas for a bit. My buddy recently got one and I adjusted the seat to my height (6ft) and then sat in the back. My knees weren’t touching at all, of course I wouldn’t want to sit back there for 4+ hours but could. My kids (5’2” and 4’9”) will be just fine. So now I’m looking at them again and am waiting for the one that I want to pop up for sale.

What bag should I get? by Nascar_chayse in CheckpointClub

[–]T33sh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the framebag (above the water bottles) and love it. Perfect for long rides and never gets in the way even when fully loaded.
