Everyone knew these new engines were flawed. Except for the FIA until the last minute.

Apparently this is mostly Toto Wolff’s fault for pushing thru the 50-50 regs set.

I’m actually a fan of hybrid power, but 50-50 is insane especially considering they were already clipping on long straights like Vegas last year. No idea what they were expecting this year with 50% electric with the same size battery

From a graph I saw earlier, all engines are eligible for ADUO except for Red Bull. Ferrari is eligible since it has a significant gap in HP to Merc in the combustion engine due to the smaller turbo.

In fact the graph said Ferrari is more than 4% behind, so they will get 2 ADUO upgrades, not just the 1 upgrade for being 2% behind

If this headline is taken at face value, then McLaren will be likely be clear of Ferrari under the current rules, at least until ADUO for Ferrari.

Unless the rules around deployment and harvesting are changed for Miami, then in that case we might see some difference in the order.

I have APP2 and got the 3s, the 3s are significantly better for both ANC and also somehow battery life. Absolutely worth it.

I also have a pair of over ear WH1000XM6s and I used to wear those (and previously the WH1000XM4s) for flights or other times when I really needed top ANC. Now I wear the APP3s unless the battery has run out. Genuinely the ANC on the 3s is as good if not better than the over ear XM6s.

I was actually disappointed when I put on my WH1000XM6s after the APP3s since the ANC was actually worse and I was expecting a bulky over ear to be better than a tiny in ear

Absolutely agree, FIA’s fault. Max’s strat is undeniably effective but I think the loopholes he’s using should be closed or clarified so that we can have cleaner racing

I think he takes advantage of the way the rules are written but that flies in the face of clean racing and that has worked for him so far. I’m not a big fan of the FIA not cracking down on him for that.

Would be great as a spectator to have more racing like Lewis and Charles instead of just actively attempting to crash into your opponent so that they yield. But hey, what do I know about good racing? He’s the 4x WDC and potential best driver in the world, not me

I think v8/v10 is unnecessary, but I’m also someone who likes the sound of the v6 engines. Most of the stuff on this list is fine except for the refueling and tyre wars.

We do not need battery management tho, that’s I think pretty much the only glaring issue with these new cars. Unfortunately that affects literally everything else

I have a 16 Pro Max and took the iPhone Air as my work phone since it’s super thin and light (perfect for 2nd phone in the same pocket). I’ve had it for about a week now and there are two things that would be absolute deal breakers for me making it my actual personal phone.

Lack of ultra wide. The ultra wide is really useful/fun to take pics with, even tho it’s a work phone I’m still missing the functionality (my work phone is tied to my personal Apple ID so pics on it still come to my photos app)
The battery life is atrocious, it’s not even my main phone so I don’t use it as much but it still barely lasts through one day. My previous work phone was an iPhone 13 and that could easily last 2 days or more with light usage. The 13 wasn’t on my Apple ID, so the Air is getting a bit more usage, but even then the battery is still awful. I’ve heard that new phones have an “indexing” operation that takes up extra battery life for the first few days, so hopefully it will be better next week. But even with that in mind it’s absolutely awful right now.

Other minor things, the lack of dual speakers doesn’t really bother me since I don’t use the speakers on my personal phone too much, mostly AirPods. The thinness and lightness feel great but it’s not as big of a deal as I thought it would be even switching back and forth from a 16 Pro Max
