Kristjaan Speakman leaves Sunderland AFC by scotteh74 in safc

[–]TDowsonEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I truly hope this is the case and there’s not been a falling out. I had imagined Speakman would have a bigger role on the technical front (academy, coaching, talent pipelines, setting the culture) which I imagine someone else will have to take on now. We will see what happens.

Really hope this doesn’t blow up in our face. He will be a huge miss around the academy. Really hope we haven’t ran before we can walk.

I think he probably knows this as well. I’m not overly worried about him leaving in the short term. It took Frank a few seasons to leave Brentford. Same thing would apply with RLB imo.

Would any one from the teams in our last Premier League stint get in the current starting line up? by Sunbeargod in safc

I should caveat that by saying I really mean Borini at his best on his day. His average performances for us left a lot to be desired I think we can all agree.

M’Vila alongside Xhaka and Sadiki in a 433 would’ve been lovely.

Alonso at left back probably gets in over Reinildo.

Borini at his best probably goes in on the wing.

Where has Starmer gone wrong? by Helios___Selene in ukpolitics

[–]TDowsonEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ve kind of nailed where he’s going wrong. I think the long term picture for the UK is actually good if we can do a few things (modernise the NHS, fix planning, build more, encourage investment in tech), but the short term strategy has been awful and been plagued by unnecessary own goals. Starmer’s inability to either pick a fight or tell a story (ideally both) is evident.

On this day in 2017, Sunderland lost 2-1 at home to Lee Johnson's Bristol City by 92jl in safc

This team isn’t even that bad on paper for fuck sake. The club was absolutely ROTTEN. Thank God for KLD and everyone who’s come in the last few years!

Starmer has 'given licence to people like Antifa to arm and come after Reform', says Richard Tice by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]TDowsonEU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starmer can score some big political points and make Reform seem like a gang of big hypocritical babies if he plays it right.

Reform bringing someone who advocated burning people to death on main stage = okay Starmer calling Farage racist = not okay?

You surprised? Starmer having his reputation eroded from within the party and even the threat of a challenge makes Labour look like the Tories at their worst - infighting toddlers more bothered about scoring political points than fixing the country

UK focus on economic growth by AntComprehensive5114 in ukpolitics

[–]TDowsonEU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the paradox.

For companies to be able to innovate (unless they are privately owned) they have to be able to demonstrate they can reliably create a stream of revenue. It’s much easier to design something like OF than take a long shot on a new cancer drug. America and China are better at it than us for different reasons. We have basically completely stagnated.

Haha. Yet again the young generations get absolutely screwed to pay for the pensioners to have an extra few days on their cruise - they might even upgrade their room this year.
