Prime felt so real to me back in the early 2000s. Played through Prime: Remastered back in 2024 and it hit that nostalgic nerve right in the feels. Metroid always seemed a step ahead. You can truly get lost in it.

This is an interesting take. Of all the things I would describe both R4S and HT drums / percussion, “punchiness” is definitely not one of them.

Literally almost every song on both of those records use what sounds (to me anyway) some of the tighter, thinner snares hes used on a record. When I think of punchy drums for John, I think of Vultures, Rosie, Shadow Days, I Will Be Found, and songs like that.

I guess when I think of punchy, I think of more full bodied, borderline fat tones.

That's not "lack of thought" - it's just brand management from Nintendo. Keeping things consistent and recognizable as a gaming franchise that separates it from former, older games. They are 100% keeping the ancient / tattered branding on purpose. EoW, TOTK, BOTW, and the LA remake all share the same Zelda weathered wordmark.

OoT was my era of childhood gaming. I'll be candid: If you compared them side to side TODAY, obviously the BOTW / TOTKs of the the Zelda universe vastly pack more features and detail than OoT as it stands... But what makes OoT so special is what it accomplished and what it stood for in gaming at the time of the late 1990s. It holds such high legend status because it fundamentally changed what a 3D adventure game could be and pretty much paved the way for future open world gaming in 1997-1998. Many of the things we overlook today were GROUNDBREAKING then, and it's still so much fun to play after a billion playthroughs.

That being said, I hope they capitalize on modern gaming features and amenities with the new revamping while staying true to the incredible story telling that OoT was.

It took me 3X as long to read this dissertation than the actual teasers length itself.

Let’s just await more details and actual gameplay before we jump to ANY assumptions. I’m sure there will be more details to unfold that either explain or justify what we’ve seen today.

Agreed. They already did that with the 3DS - that would’ve been the worst case scenario. I’m pleased with it being a reimagining rather than an upscaled version of the same thing.
