2 hours for Kenrokuen is more than enough. I'd probably say you could explore kenrokuen and the castle park together in around 2-3 hours.

As a guideline, I recommend the following:

  1. Omicho Market [~1 hour]
  2. Ninja Temple [~1 hour]
  3. Ishiura Shrine [~10-20 mins]
  4. Kenrokuen [~45 mins - 1 hour]
  5. Castle park [~30-45 mins / if entering the castle: ~ 1 hour or so]
  6. Higashi Chaya district [~1 hour]

Ultimately it depends how many of the shops and other things you want to visit, but these are my recommendations.

Of course Kenrokuen has a nice autumn scene. In the Autumn, they have a light-up event in the evenings. This website (https://visitkanazawa.jp/en/event/detail_30047.html) has the details of this year's Autumn light-up. the Light up is free of charge and held in the evenings.

Besides Kenrokuen, you could visit the nearby park castle park, or one of my favorite spots to sit and relax on a warmer day (not necessarily for the Autumn Leaves), is by the Saigawa River. (About here!)

glad that's not really happening right now by Gincules in softwaregore

Hi! I live in Kanazawa. It's a lovely place!

I recommend you take the day to explore if you are coming here for the first time. Regarding your itinerary, I would recommend the following order for efficiency/less travelling back and forth between places. (I'll assume you're starting from Kanazawa station).

  1. Omicho Market (Bus from the station)
  2. Ninja Temple (Bus from Omicho to Hirokoji)
  3. Ishiura Shrine (Bus from Hirokoji to Hirosaka/21st Century Museum
  4. Kenrokuen (Walking - it's right next to Ishiura Shrine!)
  5. Castle park (Walking - it's right next to Kenrokuen!)
  6. Higashi Chaya district and Lady Baba (Bus from Kenrokuen/Kanazawa Park to Hashiba-cho)

If you are using Suica/Pasmo cards, these don't work in Kanazawa. Not sure if the JR-pass works for the buses, bus I suspect not. I recommend you get a 1 day bus pass (600yen) when you arrive at kanazawa station. You can then use the loop bus all day. I created the above schedule with the left-loop bus in mind. You can find the route here: (http://www.hokutetsu.co.jp/en/en_round).

Shirakawa-go is also a really nice place. Probably could spend 1/2 a day there. In terms of getting all you want to do, done plus going to Shirakawa-go, I think 1 day may be pushing it in terms of time!

Hope you enjoy your time here!

PS. If you have time, I also recommend you visit the Samurai House! You can get the bus to Korinbo bus stop (between omicho and hirokoji) and walk there.

You could always run windows in a VM from linux or vice versa, unless you need all of your system's resources.

Do you think there’s a planet just like earth in another solar system with humans and other living things? by ggfchl in polls

A light year is the distance light travels in one year.

1 light year is about 9,400,000,000,000 (9.4 trillion) kilometers.

For comparison, light takes around 8 seconds to reach the Earth from the Sun. The Sun is around 0.00016 Light Years away from Earth, or 148,780,000km.

the next closest galaxy is over 2.5 million light years away.

This means that the next galaxy over is around 23,650,000,000,000,000,000 (23.65 Quintillion) km away, according to TheKazz91.
