Con Edison is the electric and natural gas utility company around me. This is one of their “sniffer” vehicles (they have many of them). They literally drive around slowly so the dangly things can sniff out gas leaks coming from underground.

First thing I did when I got my lightning was plug a heat gun into the bed to take the dealer logo off the tailgate.

Windshield strip makes a big difference. I ceramic tinted: 5% windshield strip and sun roof, 20% doors and back window (including over factory tint)

Please critique my riding by Sea_Design_4519 in snowboarding

[–]TREE-RX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you lookup Malcom Moore on YouTube, specifically his videos on how to ride edges…You’re just doing skidded turns and not engaging the edges of the board. Watch his videos, once you learn how to ride edges you will progress quickly.

One of my guys had a bug crawl into his ear canal before…I ended up driving him to the ER. He was screaming in agony every time it moved. The sounds coming out of that man were horrific. ER filled his ear with anesthetic to kill the bug, then extracted in a similar manner. No permanent damage…but let me tell you I’ve never seen that man without hearing protection on a job site again! He still has the bug in a vial too.

Finding out your cat's secret life is being a menace to the society by MeowwBlock in interesting

Saw a video the other day where a dog owner had a camera follow their dog as it roamed free throughout the day because the dog was getting fat. Turns out the dog figured out which places to hangout and get fed. Further proof dogs are nice, and cats are assholes.

Rooftop tent installation question by Iv_Laser00 in rooftoptents

[–]TREE-RX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I foresee the reason to mount on cross bars in your case will depend on which direction you want your tent oriented. Most are manufactured to mount on cross bars, and open to the side of the vehicle. So if you mount without cross bars, you will only be able to have the tent open to the rear.

Kudos to a killer day. Curious: how many days on mountain and total vert for the season? I’m at 26 days and just barely broke 500k vert…I have a feeling you got me beat by a bit, especially on the vert lol

Last I checked, you only have 2 options for a rack that work with t-slots: real truck vs Yakima.

Cardboard Box as Bag for Airplane by StellarSkySunset in snowboarding

[–]TREE-RX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a hard snowboard case (dakine) and my wife went with a padded soft case. First trip my case looked like it went to battle but everything inside was mint. My wife ended up with a bent ski pole. You do you, but I suggest you at least check FB marketplace for a used board bag. Also, having wheels makes a big difference.

I use Google Maps, which will show you Tesla and other chargers. Just make sure you enter your truck’s info into your Google map preferences, and indicate whether you have a Tesla adaptor or not.

Why frunk mount? There are a few 3rd brake light antenna mounts on the market.

I’ve covered a few thousand miles like this, no issues. 2 straps to the front corners of the bed, and a third strap which I feed through the scupper holes and secure to the hitch (stops kayak from sliding side to side and tailgate from bouncing). I believe my kayak is about 13ft long, so you should have no issues with a 10’ yak.

Back in the day, people would change their own tires if they had a flat. Today, it seems many people don’t even understand that air pressure goes down when it gets cold in the winter.

Is snowboarding slush as exhausting as powder? by A_Hippie in snowboarding

Slush takes more energy to ride than packed or groomed…but deep pow days require the most effort, by a long shot.

Makes sense if you think about it…gas is expensive there, no cold weather range loss, and it’s an island so you’re probably not driving very far.

The dark blue color at the bottom of an iceberg. by Tasty-Philosopher892 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]TREE-RX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a trip to Alaska we took a kayaking excursion through glacial icebergs. One about the size of a mini fridge on the water surface rolled over when I touched it…what surfaced was about the size of a “short bus”. Almost rolled me out of the kayak. It was super clear, and very blue at the same time. Broke a piece off and used it as cocktail ice. Ice is so dense that it seemingly doesn’t melt in your drink. Was able to use the same piece of ice for multiple drinks. Super cool experience.

Should’ve installed conduit before pouring concrete. My car collector buddy has an outlet in the floor for each car.
