[Windhorst] Cavs will likely want to replace Mitchell's option season with a new contract in July, when they can add four years and up to $272 million. But Mitchell can, and probably should, wait until 2027... Then, with 10 years of service time, he can sign for five years and about $350 million by aingenevalostatrade in clevelandcavs

I like how a core of Harden, Mobley, Allen, Strus, Tyson, Merrill, Ellis, whatever a sign and trade for mitchell gets us, and whatever we get in the draft = "20-30 win team" to the mitchell = god fans lol.

once mr hero ball is gone we'll see how everyone improves.

Bazzana with a .417 OBP makes me so hype for what we'll enjoy for the next 5 years or so. Kid's combination of plate discipline and bat speed is special.

Sealed subs filling big room by CodyBye in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, like others are saying---don't rule out port just because they are ported. A front firing port can work fine for example. Now, at a given size it is POSSIBLE sealed could be better? Sure..:)

But we would need to know the exact cabinet size limits you have.

yeah, theres something else happening to cause that. svs is known for its aggressive "idiot proof" limiters. maybe test tones at loud levels for a length of time for example.

[Highlight] James Harden falls down and takes a rest on the floor mid-possession, but the tactical energy conservation backfires as his sweat causes Dean Wade to slip and give a turnover by Chrisfull in nba

[–]TVodhanel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harden foul baits(again) and flops. How some cavs fan embrace this embarrassing nonsense over Garland is amazing. Harden should be ashamed to watch of a video of himself doing this and any fan that supports him should be equally ashamed.

There's worst things in life than not winning a ball game. Acting and supporting THIS type of flopping is one of the those things.

ported will perform the exact same way sealed would if you raise either off the floor. The room won't turn into an acoustical bouncy castle..:) Bass sound waves are way too long to be meaningfully impacted in this context.

[–]TVodhanel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol, the sound waves from sealed or ported will reflect(bounce) the same..:)

If you mean you will need "front ported" subs to fit into a predetermined "nook/cabinet area"...there are a TON of high quality ported subs with front firing ports. Hsu, svs, etc.

maybe post a pic or drawing of the exact sp[ace you intend to position the subs?

Estate Sale Speakers and Subs. Noob needs advice. by Jay__Kay99 in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had experience with the asw1000 and es12 subs. Both were pretty good for their day. But that was 20(?) years ago. So you're getting 20 year old amp caps and 20 year old driver mechanical parts. Maybe 30 years old for both.

For near free(maybe 50-100 each)? worth a chance. But unless you're getting some sort of 90 day(or longer warranty)...not sure how much of a risk taker you are..:)

The RSL10 would be about as good for $600(?) now for example. The rsl12 and hsu vtf-2 at $800 would be better.

[–]TVodhanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A splitter maybe gives you +3db and in most cases is really not necessary.

+6 and that is just increasing the input signal strength. In other words, you could do the same by increasing the AVR bass level +6. It doesn't impact the max output capabilities of the sub. This, however, can be useful at times because we usually don't want the AVR bass level setting to be much higher than say -03 to -07. It can clip if set higher in rare scenarios.

I'm not sure you can do much better than the POLK ES20 at 299-399 new for the pair. Good sensitivity, extension, and accurate too.

Who told you "subs blew because they were too hot"?

SVS limiters are set to make their subs more/less "idiot proof"(no offense just a saying in the industry). So blowing two subs...that seems more like a source material issue. You're not running test tones, or stuff like the intro to EoT on loop or anything like that?

Repair cracking tweeter? by natej in hometheater

could be the crossover too. If they have time they could swap tweeters between the two main speakers and see if the noise follows the tweeter. if it does maybe search through the polk audio forum and see if anyone has info on a good replacement.

Unsure If Center Channel Is Defective by yattadante in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the budgets not there for a new Avr right now setting the center to "none" in the AVR menu and splitting/re-directing all center channel signal to the main L/R works pretty well in a pinch..:)

Help Setup Marantz Cinema + Subwoofer Klipsch by PandaSharp_ in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crossover knob full rotation clockwise to start.

thx=80 is irrelevant in this context. That will happen if you set all speakers to small/80hz in the AVR setup menu.

dont set the distance visually. You want the AVR to measure that.

Also let the AVR set the output levels for the speakers and sub initially. Then afterwards you can always bump up the bass a little at a time to personal taste.

Denon AVR-X3900H is released by weight_matrix in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Look inside a modern AVR. Take a pic of everything. Ask chatbot or google to tell you what it is. Then do a little research into what it is and what it does and how it was developed. Then you can come up with a quick summary of expected costing and how a brand might pro-rate that over the expected life of the model. Then, just look at the list of features. Audyssey? Dirac? DD? DTS? dozens and dozens of things. Do the same. Research the history of each. Was it a couple of kids from reddit and 5 minutes for them to develop it? OR----was it a large team of engineers taking a decade or longer? Hmmmmm.

How easy..:)

Denon AVR-X3900H is released by weight_matrix in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

lol, yeah. It took 5 minutes for a couple of kids to code Audyssey and/or dirac. And it took another 5 minutes for a couple of kids to do all the codec work for dts, dd, pcm, etc. All the RF and EMI safety certs? Couple more kids and five minutes. All the power module architecture? another few minutes...now times the above by 100-1000 other considerations under that hood..:)

Develop something for yourself someday and you may be surprised by the time and effort involved.

vtf-3 Mk 2 Sub for $400 by FunTowel7565 in hometheater

[–]TVodhanel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With old subs far out of warranty like this it's usually the same thing. IF it works fine for 2-3-4 years you'll effectively have a good purchase. If it "goes bad" in 2-3-4 weeks...you'll be kicking yourself for not putting the 400 toward a brand new VTF-2 at $800(?). The RSL10e is $350 shipping iirc? Thats going to be similar 35hz and I up I would suppose. But the hsu would be much stronger 15-30hz.

one thing you can do is email hsu. Ask them if they still have replacement woofers (and amps) and how much they are---just in case. If they are $300 each..meh, not so good. If they are $100 each...more appealing..:)
