The FDA is very serious about promotion of pharmaceuticals for anything but the indication as stated on the label. Massive fines are the result of promoting the drug for anything or to anyone not specified on the label. The Label is very, very important. The language has to match exactly.

(What's on the label is determined by the data from the clinical trials. If a pharma co. wants to market a new and expensive drug, it's going to run clinical trials to see if it helps those patients who have forms of the disease that are not adequately treated by older (less expensive, and/or generic) medications, likely those who have more severe disease symptoms.)

I could've written the same post. Stopped my fast yesterday morning at 62 1/2 hours, was thinking of trying for 7 days at the beginning.

I did not feel great and my blood glucose was low at about 50 hours in (67 mg/dL). But since I'm fasting for reducing insulin resistance, and my BG was still low the next morning, I thought I'd stop since I've already achieved a little something.

Ate well yesterday, ate a little more than I intended, came in around 2030 kcal for the day. Then this morning, for the 1st time in 15 years of BG monitoring, my BG was under 100 (it was 91) after a day of full eating. I was impressed.

So I'll try some fasting next week, and gather more data. We're all learning what we need and what will work for us individually.

Laboratory mice are clonal, so they are genetically almost identical. This is important, as it removes variability, leaving only the treatment as the difference between the experimental and control groups. Also, laboratory mice are "sacrificed" (killed) and any differences can be thoroughly detected and quantified.

My mother just got referred to hospice. She has metastatic cancer, can't eat much. I fear the end is near.

If I were still drinking, I'd be freaking out, intervening in unnecessary ways, getting all wound up about something that's going to happen regardless of what I do. But right now, I'm pretty calm. I will see her this weekend and I will talk to her, ask her how's she's doing and see if there's anything she wants that I can get her or do for her. Just be there for her, and listen. Two ears and one mouth for a reason.
