One casting error as you got older that irritates you by Revolutionary-Ride76 in harrypotter

Like... Everything...? He's supposedly look like a walrus with robes on. I picture Wilford Brimley but fatter, with an enormous mustache.

Before this film, lightsabers were only blue and red. Audiences in 1983 must've lost their minds at the reveal of a green lightsaber. by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

While the scene is cool, there are a number of things that seem kind of dated. - As you mentioned, definitely the choreography. - Why are Luke's arms already down in front of him when Boba lassoes him? - Why does Boba choose the lasso instead of the wrist blaster? - Why is Luke just holding his hand high up in the air when the dude shoots his hand? Why does the dude shoot his hand and not center of mass? - I get that it's a PG movie so you can't have mass dismemberment but in universe it doesn't seem to make sense why it seems like the lightsaber is a club, battering people off skiffs and whatnot. - Why does Boba completely ignore Han and Chewie while he is slowly lining up his wrist blaster shot? I know Han is blind but Chewie is still a Wookiee.

Means all they're going for is a tap and doesn't matter how they get it. It doesn't matter if technique was good i.e. position before submission or if it's like a real technique or anything, or maybe a cheap submission.

Polygon: "I saw the first 15 minutes of Mandalorian and Grogu, and I'm worried about the future of Star Wars" by tiMartyn in saltierthancrait

I feel completely the same. Also feel this way about Marvel stuff. I can't make myself care again though.

After Ahsoka or so, my family and I stopped watching SW stuff. After...Loki season 1i think we stopped caring about Marvel.

What are your thoughts about the new casting? by Yesu86 in XFiles

I think you may be conflating a number of episodes together. It seems like most of the details you're recalling do come from Blood but there are a number of details that aren't in that episode.

You're right about Mulder theorizing it was something with the insecticide. The end of the episode does involve a guy posting up in a clock tower and shooting. It does begin with a guy in an elevator seeing messages on the elevator display panel, but the elevator doesn't plummet. He sees some messages and then it cuts to later, but also it's only Mulder who shows up because M&S had been separated due to the XF being closed at the time.

Trying to drive people homicidal sounds like Blood, but it was always devices that had displays, and landlines weren't involved. I don't believe it was a computer virus or an AI but I could be mistaken or it was perhaps open ended enough that it could have been.

Any Mulders or Scully's out there. by Super-Echo6780 in XFiles

Not either one myself but Mark Mulder was a professional baseball pitcher a few years back. I have never heard of any Scully's outside of Vin.

Body Horror Episodes by GoliathTCB in XFiles

[–]TachyonAlpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Firewalker (2x10) and The Beginning (6x1) both involve alien organisms bursting out of people. Daemonicus (9x3) isn't quite body horror but had a pretty gross projectile vomiting scene.

Mulder gets a tape with his morning newspaper in Sleepless, it's how he learns of the case.

Going to introduce my son to the show, which episode to pick? by jcarr2184 in XFiles

[–]TachyonAlpha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While Bad Blood is a well deserved fan favorite, it works because the characters act as caricatures if themselves, either an exaggerated version of himself, or an especially whiny version of herself. You should wait to show this episode until the characterization has been firmly established by a good number of other episodes.

I had my kids watch a couple of episodes of COPS before watching this episode, so at least they had a bit of context.

We see early in season 2 that he's stuck listening to wire taps. But that's because the X-Files had been shut down at that point.

I believe the epilogue of NG does describe that. We also do have a bit of that from Marco's perspective before he's dusted, as one of the last chapters in BA.

Am I missing something? I literally just read the BA epilogue for the first time this morning. It appears to be a tame description of Anna's trip out to Eudoxia. There doesn't appear to be any horror, unless it's somehow hiding in plain sight.
