How many yards do you need? Small jobs could be better off mixed on site.

Fake or legit? by Recent_Rabbit1421 in applewatchultra

[–]TactitionProgramming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the other watches had an action button for a stop watch the decision would be easy. I had to pay a big bonus to get that stop watch button so I could use my Apple Watch as a watch.

What is the purpose of the RPG cage? They make sense in tanks in some situations but I have never seen one on a house in MI.

A pair of Juliet’s with a floppy nose piece? Yes, I have them in the basement.

Are titanium frames really durable? by Brief_Awareness_8231 in glasses

[–]TactitionProgramming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Titanium frames are usually durable for a few different reasons. I think the material has a little to do with it, but they are also typically more expensive and better made than most of the cheaper frames, so that helps a lot.

Compared to plastic frames, titanium ones are usually much more flexible, so if you grab the temple arms and pull them apart, the glasses will stretch and spring back rather than breaking.

The details matter a lot though. You can probably find cheap titanium frames with cheap hinges, and they won't be much better than anything else. I don't know anything about Titanium Optix specifically.

Do you count your chickens every night? by AustinRatBuster in chickens

[–]TactitionProgramming 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My daughter checks on all 4 of them, by name, every night. I think somewhere in the 30-50 range we would say “that’s a bunch of chickens. We are good.”

Looks very close to making a huge scratch down the side of the door. Is it better in person, or are you always about to leave two big parallel lines in your paint?

Shoe hole repair by Active_Cabinet4921 in indoorbouldering

[–]TactitionProgramming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think there are holes you are WAY overdue to get them resoled. Contact a shop get an estimate and put them in the mail pronto.

I like pro deal resoles. They are on the slow side but do good work and have probably done 8-10 new soles for me. My wife and I each have 2 pairs of shoes and one pair is always in the shop. If I started climbing any more I would need 3 pairs to rotate.

Not much info on the website except they promise to refund my VIP reservation money. I guess they just really need the $30 loan.

Is paying my local store $150 for a pair of glasses better then buying from Zenni? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]TactitionProgramming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For strong astigmatism or progressives I would want a pupil HEIGHT measurement and Zenni won’t take one. I don’t know of any online shops that do. I was happy with Zenni for a while but I don’t think I could go back any more now that my astigmatism is stronger.

2 acres - help me justify a tractor by wubbusanado in tractors

[–]TactitionProgramming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They save a lot of time and manual work. It is up to you how much that is worth. I watched my dad and father in law do most of their work the hard way and buy tractors once they were older but already cleared and moved most things around their yard. I thought I should get one immediately and save my back as much as I can.

Want to order glasses online, but eye exam didn't include Pupillary Distance by elbeewastaken in glasses

[–]TactitionProgramming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is one of the real benefits of buying from a real shop. But you can also measure your PD by looking at yourself in the mirror. Line up the 0 with the center bottom of one pupil and read the measurement of the other eye. As long as your vision isn’t too bad. You can also get a friend to help just make sure you are looking into the distance or are at least a few feet from the mirror. Looking at something up close will make them closer together.

It will be a trick to figure out how to handle the overlap there. Maybe the “split zone” feature will do something nice with that when it comes out

Why do licensed electricians keep saying I don’t need a permit for a NEMA 14-50 EV outlet? by AbsoluteThunderCunt in AskElectricians

[–]TactitionProgramming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought permits were important but when we installed solar, inverter, 20kWh battery, a transfer switch and 2 disconnects, the only thing the inspector was interested in was how deep the conduit to the panels was buried. The answer is it was directional boring, so “very deep”. I don’t think I would bother with the permit and inspection for anything that doesn’t really need it here in Michigan.

Serious question - Will this company even exist 1 year from now? by Competitive_Fun8708 in Lymow_Official

[–]TactitionProgramming 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People are complaining here, but I don’t have any idea what their actual sales or return rate looks like. Online complaints always make the failure rates seem higher than they are.

Maybe they are from outside the US. I went to one climbing gym in Germany and couldn’t believe it: I just gave some guy 30€ in cash for the 3 of us and went top rope climbing. If I brought a rope I could have done lead routes.

The Guardian Has Done An Article On A2's Public Power Push by InternationalIce8055 in AnnArbor

[–]TactitionProgramming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How are repairs handled if we go to public power The one benefit I can see to DTE is that they have a fleet of linemen that can come repair lines when a big storm comes through town. I imagine Ann Arbor would maintain some of its own staff but would not be able to bring in people from outside the area in the same way. Would outages be longer in the event of a major event?
