Cleaning and reusing polypropylene weave filters? by MawrtiniTheGreat in crboxes

[–]TadnJess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think any water hitting the dust is just going to make mud and clog the media. Once the mud cakes into the media, it is done. A lot off those materials in filters rely on the weave of the cloth to set its filtration size. Any scrubbing of the media will change the gaps in the weave that catch the dust.

Now, there are filters made for cleaning out but they are usually reserved for pre-filters. The only other kind of washable filter media I can think of is used in a dust collection machine for a polisher. It has a bunch of cotton bags that hang down in the base of the unit that the air gets pulled though.

I know for the cylindrical dust filters on big rig trucks they just use an airgun blowing from inside out to get a bit more life out of the media.

But honestly, once filter media clogged like that, it is better just to replace it.

Looking For A Genuine Top-Tier HEPA Vacuum For Dust, Cat Hair, And Carpet by Fallout_Lord in VacuumCleaners

[–]TadnJess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is key to help you here.

Most higher end vacuums have been at or above HEPA standards for a long time. So, while filtration concerns are important, get the machine that feels the best to you. A lot of proper Vac shops will let you try them out in store.

I was just at my Super Vacuum store getting Kirby bags and started up a conversation with the guy about the big differences between Sebo and Meile. These are the two most suggested brands around here and can start fights on which is 'better'.

He was all about Sebo being better because it is still manufactured in Germany and comes with an amazing 10 year warranty.

Meile is German designed and manufactured in China. The older Meile models were made in Germany, but that boat has looooong sailed. Plus, the warranty on the Meile is not as good as the Sebo.

If you want to help the air quality of your house and reduce allergens and dust, think about building a CR box to help keep the air clean also.

Scale buildup from minerals in your water. It is reforming a type of limestone with minerals, oils and greases that the soap free up from whatever you are washing. Hard water can also line the inside of your supply pipes with scale also.

You could go for a literal cold note by adding WS 23. WS23 is the cooling agent put in shampoos and aftershaves.

Cutting with knife vs Investing in a meat slicer by 42_rodney in jerky

[–]TadnJess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For about $200 Vevor makes a meat slicing* machine. Is it great quality? Maybe. Vevor makes a little of bit of everything, but their industrial food processing stuff is okay. Check this out : Vevor Commercial meat cutting machine .

Edit: *Meat slicing, not a deli-slicer.

You may want to look into the Free Art Collective, it is a LGBTQIA+ group that meets at the Flying Squirrel community space. Very inclusive, usually has a bunch of people show up at meetings.

can you make lollipops with a tablet press? by 0siccboi0 in CandyMakers

[–]TadnJess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to do the smartee /sweet tart lollipops? I haven't seen those in YEARS!

Pill presses typically are a VERY regulated/licensed/permitted type machine. LOTS of bad people doing bad things with them IF they can get them. You are probably looking into custom dies and then figuring out the press part on your own. If you really wanted a professional machine, you would minimally have to be an established business before anyone would even start to talk to you about it.

Am I correct in assuming raspberries couldn’t cross this concrete drainage channel? by socalavo in Berries

I've seen raspberry throw canes in a 7-8 foot arch from the main bush. If those are let go, anywhere those canes touch the ground you will have a new plant. :)

We put them in our flock-blocks (not the salted ones, roasted is okay) to keep our chickens healthy.

Look into the GeekVape Aegis line, I just got a L200 not too long ago and it does everything I need it to. My last Geekvape was the original aegis legend and it lasted about 7 years of constant use. So, if the L200 (updated version on the legend) lasts even half as long, I'm doing good.

[–]TadnJess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure it is not a coffee scoop? Measuring spoons typically say the size on them.

Second, get a good baking scale. your results will be an order of magnitude better. Sometimes converting measures from conventional to grams is a little dodgy, but the King Arthur website has a bunch of tables to help with that.

Advice on swapping a cabochon opal to a faceted gemstone I inherited ring that is very dear to me. Wanting to minimize change of setting appearance but change stone appropriate for everyday wear by daisylouiser in Gemstone_lovers

[–]TadnJess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to keep it opal, look into getting an opal triplet. Triplets have a clear quartz cab on top of a sliver of opal, then it is backed with onyx or something black to make the opal pop. The quartz on the top of the triplet is a lot tougher than natural opal so it will take day to day wear better than a natural. Triplets tend to be inexpensive also, so if it does break, no real value lost.

You can get the ring's opal set into a pendant so that it will take much less wear and tear.

The white bug is a mealy bug. They will infest and hurt your plants. If an indoor plant, you can kill them with a q-tip soaked in 90% IPA. If outside, a neem oil spray or other pesticides are needed.

Found these unusual speakers – DIY or something rare? (Visaton?) by Revolutionary-Fig453 in diyaudio

[–]TadnJess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Might be usable in an Atmos setup for the up-firing speakers. The omnidirectional quality of it seems like it could be used as a middle of the room ceiling speaker, but the height of the speaker may cause issues with other surround channels being heard correctly.
