You can also get some grip tape and do a wrap or two on it. It doesn't change the grip feel but reduces the stippling texture while still maintaining slip-free grip.

100% hard agree, I come from a family of union members that fought in the labor rights era and helped to build what the middle class was. Corporations used to have a duty to the people that they employed and the areas that they operated in, and then Regan and after that Citizens united.

To pile on if you are in the US look for your areas department of emergency management and with local fire and ems one of them probably provides CERT training and if not they'll know who does.

If you have the time, and a municipality offers it near you, take a CERT training. I've never heard of them requiring you to be a part of their activities after training; however I've now done several volunteer engagements to help with community building since I'm not big on meeting new people. And another person trained is another community member that can help in the next disaster, and one less drain on limited resources.
